Nice looking gun. Shooting the GK one again today, the main problem with this is the rate at which I go through pellets and the fact that 25 ain't cheap. Going to have to do some casting see if I can build up a good stock of 40gr BBT's which seat perfectly in the cylinder. I wish there were cheap .25 plinking-grade pellets in large tins for popping cans and "fun" shooting. I guess some Hatsan and H+N can be down around $.05/roundWas thinking of trying swaged .25 buckshot from ballisticproducts but don't know if the harder alloy would be an issue in this gun. I use their 9mm balls in my rex P and they are good enough for plinking, seat snugly, and because only a narrow band (the equator of the ball) is swaged into the rifling, the harder alloy did not seem to be a problem.
My AA 7.33s arrived today. They shoot like little laser beams in my new HW30.
Wow, no reports of shooting for July 4 or 5.I just finished shooting the two rifles at a soda can Id shot earlier this week with the P3 offhand standing from 33. That went well, but the mangled can revealed a tougher challenge for the rifles, namely to finish off the three parts that needed killing to cut the lower half of the can from the top half. There was a center strip maybe 3/4 long horizontally, plus one tiny vertical strip each to the left and the right sides of the center one.I set up the pellet trap and target and stood at 55 from muzzle to target, standing offhand. Started with the Blue Streak (JSB Diabolo 13.73 gr). (Did my new routine of pumping first before cocking and loading.) Shot 10 pellets, of which 7 smacked the can and tore away that center strip. I used 3 pumps per shot. The two thin strips made me say out loud, Youre gonna need a bigger boat a scope. I swapped the Streak for the 880. Pellets: RWS R10 8.2 gr. I used 6 pumps per shot. Killed one of the thin strips in the first 10 shots (9 hit the can). Looked again at the last tiny strip and decided it was time to sit down and support my support elbow with a bent knee. I also moved forward a little, to 52 instead of 55. It took another 10 shots (8 hit the can) to cut off that little strip and drop the bottom of the can. Happened on that very last shot. All three of my air guns are shooting very well and Im getting more used to using them standing offhand, so I am a happy camper.
Great to see everyone out doing the airgun thing, I did mine incognito, and posted in other gates But I did shoot multiple airguns over the Holiday, and just remembered I have blast caps, maybe I will scare all the rabbits and squirrels out of Collins today
R9 .22 caliber, 25 yards at dots on cardboard, paintballs and steel spinners. Three boys migrated back to where I was and we ended up taking turns with the same rifle , one shot each at paintballs.
