So.....what did you shoot today?
« on: July 16, 2017, 01:33:47 AM »
Today is the 1st day of my 2 weeks vacation  :D There were no kids' sports activities, no family parties, no chores that needed to be done right away.........it was one of those elusive my free day. The day was a bit hot, but dry and barely any wind.....this was going to be one of those good shooting days!

I've recently rediscovered my forgotten Crosman M4-177 pumper, after a member here mentioned he had one on order. So, I dug it out and decided to remove the iron sights and replace it with a red-dot scope. Only took about 5 minutes to sight in the red-dot, and after that the M4 was grouping quarter sized groups at 15ft. Took the M4 outside and sighted in for empty soda cans, hanging on trees, at 15-20yds. Great fun and the arms got a good workout pumping the M4 through nearly 100 rounds.

Arms needed a rest, so I pulled out PRod for a lenghtier, tad more precision shooting, out between 30-50yds.

After several magazines and a cold brew, the arms were fairly rested and ready to go back to the M4.........but it occurred to me that those  hanging cans would be fun and challenging with one of my semi-auto CO2 pistols. I chose the Umarex XBG semi-auto bb pistol. Its a cheapo plastic gun, but accurate(for a bb gun) and lots of fun to empty that 16 round magazine. Those cans were dancing  everywhere. That pistol has a heavy and such a long pull trigger, yet predictable..........but, Man, my right trigger finger got an even better workout than my arms did with the M4.

After a very long shooting session with these 3 guns, I didn't have the desire to even pull out the Armada or Bullboss. I'll save those for a not too distant future long session ;)

So, what did you shoot today (pics are very much encouraged)?

Nothing. I've been working overtime for 9 days in a row. Tomorrow will be 10.  And sadly, none of the extra $ will be going to air rifles or shooting accessories.

A couple birdfeeder bandits with the 880 in the A.M. then worked on my off hand shooting with the RAW at 50 and 15. Maybe 40 shots? I honestly didnt count. I was trying to focus on form

Spent a couple hours shooting my Chinese side levers Qb58 and BAM21 at 20 meters. Each rifle is able to hold touching groups with cheap H&N Hammer Dome pellets, I'd say I lucked out.

I did some more work on the trigger of my Crosman Extreme & it is much smoother . Then , I shot about about 20 pellets through it from 10 to 50 yards. & was happy enough. Then played with a Sheridan Blue Streak & a Silver Streak shooting the same distances. Happy with all three rifles, which are scoped.

Late last night...may have been close to midnight so hope it counts lol
Shooting my new Hatsan AT44S-10QE in .22 with one of my buddies.  Distance of just under 25 feet, nothing remarkable for distance I know.  The cool part about this was this 8 shot group, 5 shots by him and 3 by me.  He thought he wasn't hitting anywhere near the target since we were sighting in the scope, so I took the last few shots.  (Ignore the overlay of the other target, we were shooting a bunch more with our new CCS 2400KT's and forgot to get a pic until this morning).

It was yesterday at our monthly fun shoot in Cross, S.C. I took 11 gun but only shot 3 and a Cometa made RWS 93 I bought from a bud that morning. Nice gun! The others were a Hammerli X2 dual cal (Mendoza) I bought a month ago from MM and a Beeman double barrel 2016W .177/.22. That's the one shoots the different barrels individually. The other was an old Beeman RS2 dual cal. I modded with 5 slot 4 rail barrel mounts and BSA  4X32 pistol scopes so I can change barrels without having to re-zero. Had to cut 3 inches off the front of the stock so I could cock it and some off the back to get the eye relief right. Painted it with bed liner and stuck a slip on recoil pad. Had nicer guns still in the car but it got so hot and the nats got so thick we had to quit early. Good stuff with good friends.

Buy them some beer.  You'll get some targets out of it too :P

lefteyeshot,

So if I'm to understand you correctly, you mounted a scope onto each individual barrel for the Beeman RS2?  Interesting.

Inbetween shooting, I was doing some spraypainting: a Crosman MK177 and my steel targets. Had an empty can of spray paint, so decided it would make a good at 25yd with the red-dot scope on the M4-177. Gave it tem pumps, and the can spew out a mist of orange and propelled sideway.........super cool!

Last day of my 16 day summer shutdown. I go in for a couple hours tomorrow that back to full bore Tuesday. What did I shoot? So far I shot the whole day sitting right here in the recliner. I did manage to put sling lugs on my Air Max Varmint. I did manage eat the butt out of a Subway steak and pimento sandwich. And now I'm watching Martin Truex Jr. put the smackdown on Loudon NH.
