Spent a few moments reminiscing, gazing at, fondling and shooting my Daisy QuickSkill. It's pushing 60 years since I got it. Lotta BBs went down the tube in the 1960s, not so many today. Thankful it's still working. Was thinking about selling it but the emotional value probably exceeds it's collector value.

Shot the 880 today, starting with killing the thin thread of metal holding the lower half of an abused minican to its top. Moved on to shooting spinners, one of my favorite indulgences. These were done sitting on the ground with bent knee for some support. Finished with shots at a steel can, standing offhand. All easier with a scope than without, so for this last one I stood a little farther back (but still only 50’) and used the lowest scope mag of 2x.

I then thought, might as well pop a few with the Blue Streak, since the pellet trap is up.

The misnamed cedar gnat infestation drove me bonkers today and the last few times I practiced. There are no true cedar trees in this region. And the horrid gnats actually seem more thick in brush, such as sagebrush and rabbitbrush. The barely visible biters pack a walloping mean itch that gets worse a few days AFTER the bite was made.

The sun is trying to kill me and it's 105° today, so I'll be doing any shooting inside with the Daisy no.177 BB pistols.

After the chores were done for the day, I took in this beauty evening with the Notos. Sat on the deck steps and plinked at steel targets and Weeds along the edge of the lawn.

Yep, I put 6 15 rnd. mags through my NoDoze today also. 3 fills from the YH compressor.
It was shooting my cast 217 24 RF Magnums very well.
I also found a new set of double strap rings in a scope box and swapped them out from the cheap Chinese single strap.

I shot the gifted to me 853 checking it out with peeps before I tear it down and give it a good cleaning along with a trigger mod and O-ring/valve rebuild.
Anything past 10m is just guess work with the peeps for me.

Another member raised the idea of putting together a 30yd. weekly casual match. It's kinda been in the back of my mind. I was in the casting shed this morning and spotted the Fortitude standing in the rack. I remembered I had topped it off before I stood it there so I stood up the little folding shooting table and grabbed a tin of CPHP pellets from the shelf.
This just may be the perfect gun for something like that. I get 70 16fpe shots per fill from that gun and it's one ragged hole accurate at 30yds. The gun is definitely better than I am.

Had a work virtual training so I did it from home. Finished early and took ThikGirl to the BY range with some sized powder coated NOE68 slugs. Got some vertical stripes about 2-3 pellet width but 2"+ separation. Pushing through the sizer they look more like NSA because the lube groove gets filled in with PC and there's one continuous .303 diameter until the reduction. Using the hand coating method I also get a TTSX style black dot of powder coat filling the HP cavity. I'm going to accept my theory that more driving surface increases accuracy with this barrel.....Next will be to "massage" my sizer to about .3034 and PC some of the Accurate Mold TC 62s that dropped at .3025 to .3030.....With the Harbor Freight Hand Powder Coat they should be about .306 before sizing.

Tuned down to 3300-3400psi the Hatsan 46gr pellets were one ragged hole with two flyers touching each other definitely MOS. For Sunday with the ATL crew I will probably turn the TP back to 10:00 (currently at 10:40) and fill to 3300 and take two tins of 46gr Hatsans for 25-50 yard testing

Royale 400 at a can 100 yards away kneeling. Took 10 shots to figure the holdover but once I found it I was nailing that can hanging from a branch. Only a few misses after I found it.

Yesterday I spent some time with a hand-me-across (from my brother in law) 2100 Classic pumper and some Crosman wadcutters. Nice way to spend the late afternoon; sun had dropped below the treeline and Sonja and I lit up a Mich Ultra can that has seen better days. Range- about 40 yards- a little long for wadcutters, and the can disappears behind the front sight, but 90% of the shots hit. It's pretty amazing how accurate this pumper is, considering how FAT the front sight is and we're using wadcutters past 30 yards. I have a couple scopes that could make this MSP shine, but for now, we've been enjoying the ~~iron~~ plastic sights.

I'll probably be shooting the Blue Streak later- I dusted off a tin of .20 H&N Sport FTT domes I had buried in my ammo locker and my last set of notes indicated the Blue Streak really likes them.

Wrapped up the last minutes of dusk with my Blue Streak and some FTT domes. The Michelob Ultra can was retired; now working on a somewhat wider Monster can. I contemplated grabbing one of the PCPs but I've been enjoying casual plinking with the springers and MSPs.
