Yesterday I took 8 shots at a rabbit 40 yards down hill from where I was standing freehand and just kept missing low. I was pretty confused since I usually shoot those in one shot. Then I looked at the pressure gauge. I forgot to refill it after I shot some targets the other day.

Very different distance and gun, but occasionally my P3 sends a weirdly low shot out after shooting normally. Then resumes shooting as normal. I noticed that the Meisterkugeln 7 gr pellets vary noticeably in how snugly they fit the breech. Makes me wonder if too small a skirt diameter has similar effect as too little air pressure in a PCP.

I really do not want to start sorting pellets by skirt or head size or weight! Still, given how many Meisterkugelns I still have, I will note which pellets drop right into the breech. If loose enough, maybe I can make them drop OUT of the breech and set those aside. Gun breech as skirt sizer, LOL.

Sticking with R10 pellets after the Meisterkugeln are gone. The R10 pellets fit snugly.

I was shooting the Crosman 700 that I resealed more than a week ago. It has the same cart in it that I left in it then and it just shot 20 + shots and shows no signs of quitting yet. I am very impressed at how accurate it shoots my cast 217 20 RF pellets at 20yds. and open sights. I was also easily picking off pine cones at 25 - 30 yds.
I have a few self lubing C02 carts that I will run through it once this one runs out just to give it a little extra lube on those new seals.
I think this one is going to hang above the door in the Casting Shack for shots of opportunity.

After a VERY long time of not shooting, I broke out the 2240 and put on a new suppressor with a front site on it. Me and my wife took some shots with it off the front deck but it needs some adjustments to the rear sight. It was nice to shoot again!
I also measured out our new shooting spot and it's 60+ yards from just outside the garage to the backstop. Now if it would just cool off a little.

 I also found it really funny the rabbit just sat there with no fear. LOL
 I rarely miss a shot hardly ever 2 shots and never 8 in a row so I was very confused by that.

Thursday LGR day...had enough points for half off. 
Two tools confirmed I can still manage recoil.
The Challenger drew looks from the PB guys as usual.  We were sporting the jet black Acurate Molds 3062-PC.  Groups are at the wall (24 yards).  Surprisingly the PCed slugs grouped as well as the NSA 46gr....Next batch I'll do a better job getting full PC coverage and see if we can tighten the group any, but these are getting huntable...
Notos Plenum shot two mags on a mystery fill (no manometer).  After adjusting the scope I'm gonna call her sighted in for Apollo 18s (final group shown).  I think I have three tins left plus 3 tins of NOE217RF19.4s.  If I go crazy and shoot them all up before August I can get a 500 tin of JSB 18s for Small Game Season.

Have you tried the Norma heavy FT, 17.6 gr, cheap and accurate if they are still on sale somewhere ?

Thanks,  I actually never really gave the figure in this stock very much thought.
The Dutch Elm Crosman used in the 60's tends to have lots of figure, it's not a very glamorous wood but at least it's got the wild grain.

Thunderstorms drove me to shoot indoors today. Front rested P3 at 19’ between target and muzzle, Meisterkugeln 7 gr pellets. Both RH and LH as usual.

I did 15 rounds on paster dots and then put up a Crosman Crow modified to be a Eurasian Collared Dove. Sort of. Their shapes and perching stances are not at all similar, but hey, I have 5 of these targets to morph into ECD. (And I like crows, so it’s too weird to shoot even a photo of them—and yes, they can be real nuisances—but they rarely come to our place.)

The lower bulls were warmup and more confirmation that shots would be a little low because the gun was zeroed for at least 33’. But the vertical stringing made them even lower. That’s all on ME. On one shot I could tell I had pulled the muzzle down but the pellet was already on its way. Something to be hypervigilant about now that I know it happens.

Photo shows 7 shots each on the lower bulls, LH and RH, plus 11 shots on the bird (5 RH, 6 LH).

I shot them with my FX Royale 400 on medium power (20 fpe) with JSB 18.1 grain pellets at 30 yards.

Weather is muggy, hot, and threatening more thunderstorms.

I enjoyed shooting without biting gnats, wind, and glare yesterday—indoors. The vertical stringing tendency on the target posted above bothered me enough that I repeated almost the same practice today.

Indoors, front rested P3 at 19’ muzzle to target, same type of target and pellets, etc. I did only 6 shots on a paster before putting up another kindasorta ECD target. Did 7 shots RH on the lower right bull, 7 shots LH on the lower left bull, and 10 shots (split between RH and LH) on the bird bull. First shot went really high left (hmmm) but the other 9 made a group that just peeks out from under a dime in a couple of spots.

It appeared that the windage screw needed a little adjustment towards the left, so I did that before sticking a 1/2” paster dot on to check the new setting with a final set of 10 shots, again half with each hand. I also deliberately aimed a little high this time, to temporarily compensate for the short distance. Both adjustments were good enough that after another initial high left shot (really hmmm), the next shot punched the paster into the cardboard. After that I tried to just hit the same hole. Not counting the weird first shots of each 10, it was a similar size group as with the bird bull except that it did center on the paster instead of hitting right.

Sure is nice to shoot right at home 2 days in a row, under the same conditions, to try to improve technique. Big advantage over PB practice.

Probably shot at least 200 pellets in my HW50S stainless looking .22 at 12 to 20 yards and a miss was very few.  I can't hardly believe what a great accurate and to me not that hard to cock wonderful rifle it has turned out to be.  When I first got the rifle it seemed too hard to cock and didn't give it a chance, however I've built up my strength in my left arm and that is due to shoot almost everyday.  And I'm almost 85 years young.  Charles
