I wonder whether one can be 3D printed. I know the limitations of 3D printing, but with some post-processing, the material should be hard enough.

As for me, the short version doesn't have the same shot count to begin with, and I like the use of a single shot tray for most purposes. I think I'll be fine with just the included two magazines.

They may be 3-D printable, but the tolerances are really really tight. You'd have to have a really good printer dailed in perfectly. I have a pretty good 3D printer, and I don't think it could produce replacement mags that would work flawlessly. I have a standard Mutant so I know what the magazines are like. They weigh next to nothing and are like a part of a precise watch movement.

Just need to do some engineering and come up with a clever way to carry them integral to the rifles stock

This just occurred to me. Use the removable 3M double sided tape and attach a tough zip-lock bag of the right size to one side of the stock, put the extra magazines into the zip-lock bag.

Cheap, cheezy and yet effective! Put another one on the other side, and carry your lunch as well!

I just got mine yesterday...right in the middle of all day rain and high humidity. Still didn't stop me from shooting a few magazines.

This thing is stupid accurate! A little top heavy when its not shouldered, but still very easy to carry. I'm loving it.

I bought my standard Mutant from Wild West Airguns and it came with a fill probe that connects to the quick fill on my Hill pump.

I got mine from talon tunes, and it also came with a fill probe that had a foster's to connect the air source. I was worried it might have 1/8BSPP, but it was foster's.

Devised a way to get the fill probe onto the gun as well 
Using a stub of Acetal ( delrin ) drilled to same diameter as FM fill probe hole, attached it via industrial contact cement to radius present on the right side forward scope tower.  Access to the allen screws remain unimpeded 




There is a Very small vent hole drilled at other end so as probe is pushed into carrier it vents the air being compressed within the bore.
A small plastic cap over Foster end protects it.

Clever idea for keeping the probe.  If you cut to fit and stuffed a piece of sponge with pelgun oil on it, it could lube the tip each time to maintain the o-rings.

Good to see Scott's Mutant yesterday in the Sacramento area FT match. It is longer than my Shorty in all ways, including LOP! The standard has a center of mass at the grip, whereas the shorty is leaning a little to the shoulder. However, using a lighter scope, the shorty combo is a bit lighter compared to the standard.

BTW, the Mutant short did okay in the match. I had some inconsistency issues at the beginning, but that can be explained (continue to read, please!) and easily fixed.

Also, Scott's custom magazine carrier is awesome! I am more of a single shot kind of person, but still impressed by Scott's workmanship.

After the FT match where we all got to shoot both the standard and short versions of the Mutant, I went home and did some groups. I found that the baffles inside my shroud were loose, potentially leading to inconsistency issues. Two o-rings quickly fixed the problem, one in the factory shroud, another one in the shroud extension. Groups became much more consistent and did not need a few shots to settle things down!

I wonder whether o-rings were supposed to be included from factory or not. Regardless, it is an inexpensive and easy mod, it is also totally reversible.

The factory guns don't come with a shroud extension... or orings. Normaly the factory cap screws all the way down and sandwiches  everything

The shroud extension threads sound like they could of been a little longer to tighten against the baffles...     oring does the trick though.
