Have to say all that has been said on a positive note rings true ... Trigger is So adjustable it rivals some of the best MATCH GRADE triggers I own on Long guns ( AG's ) The CZ barrel is well ACCURATE as all get out !Overall mechanics, metal work, fit & finish is absolutely top shelf stuff and so telling of what the Eastern Europeans / Ex USSR countries can manufacture. Honestly world class stuff here !!If there is a fault ? ... it would be that the WOOD WORK is just average being nothing fancy & 100% Function & Form over aesthetics & pleasing lines/ shapes. As a note of internal mechanics ... was very interested to view and decipher there "SORTA" way of having a "No BOUNCE" type hammer / spring configuration.Similar to FWB / STEYR and likely others, the hammer is just a long rod with a catch ring for holding sear.It weights just a tad over 16 grams ( Super light weight ) and is compressed against ONE VERY HEAVY spring having a very short stroke. There is ABSOLUTELY NO PRELOAD PRESENT upon firing having the spring throwing the hammer at poppet with a spring so stiff there is no way a bounce could get generated.* In reading threads over on the TALON forum those who have them & crunched efficiency numbers claim 1.8 - 2.0 FPE/cuin. While personally have not run the numbers yet myself, it would not surprise me once turned down a bit from factory power setting as delivered.Power as it came out of the box was insane !!! ... JSB 15.9's @ 1030 fps yet still accurate inside 50 yards.Noise while muffled indeed had a crack in the sound signature. Once over the Chrony turned it down to shoot the 15.9's @ 910 fps the noise level collapsed to a dull pop being IMO very back yard friendly and still accurate as heck. This is my latest gun to fool with and while MOST feel these Mutants are ready to rock right away and honestly don't need to be fiddled with ... I'm a tweaker / tuner & will be fiddling to find out what makes these Pups tick while fine tuning what I can find ... This an INTERNET photo. They come in BLACK or a BROWN wood stock. There are 3 lengths of @ 22" for the short, @ 28 for standard and @ 30" for the long.ONLY the SHORT & STANDARD seem too have been sold thus far .. tho hear from a dealer spoken with they have the Long now to sell.I have been checking different forums looking for numbers to calculate the efficiency of the Mutant Short. I have not found many complete shot strings. To my surprise, the efficiency calculated from 3 complete data sets were 0.88, 1.03, and 0.97 fpe/ci. So, after reading about claims of 1.8-2.0 fpe/ci for the standard, I wonder what can explain such a huge difference between the shortie and the standard. Any thoughts?

Spend much time reading about the shortys and most have leaned on the power pretty hard attempting to get the 18 grain pellets up at 850 fps or faster if they can. * @ 30 ft lbs give or take While you can get em close, due to the short barrel fitted they become air hogs & efficiency really suffers. After all even the manufacturer rates the SHORTY as a 25 ft lb gun where the standard with longer barrel is a 35 ft lb gun. * These are the practical MAX power ratings IMO. In the case of most Standard owners, able to TURN IT DOWN being at +/- 30 ft lbs and see gains in efficiency.
Nice case for the Standard. I found this one for the Short, fits like a glove. See here: https://www.pyramydair.com/product/utg-gun-case-dual-storage-adjustable-shoulder-strap-25x13?a=775And if you need to protect your gun and case from heavy rain, this is a very good solution. See here:
Motorhead:Based on the impression on the poppet head, do you anticipate heavy shooters to need a replacement before too long?
Quote from: wimpanzee on October 10, 2016, 08:07:18 AMMotorhead:Based on the impression on the poppet head, do you anticipate heavy shooters to need a replacement before too long? With my rifle having now at most a few tins worth of shots the fatigue present was minimal. What it did tell me tho is the poppet head is fairly soft ( As are most for a good seal )With a throat taken to .235" and poppet head diameter at .265" only leaves a .015" sealing margin and creates a very good chance the poppet would impact it self into the throat like a cork in a bottle. By Going with PEEK and care lapping in the 25* angle the poppet head has to seat a seal that won't leak was accomplished. PEEK is not going to have a problem either IMO running on a .015" sealing margin.
Just some FYI for any "Standard" owners who are yet to invest in a carry bag I'm using one of the 30" length UTG brand "Alpha Battle Carrier" bags that just fits the rifle.Outside has 3 zipper pouches, single HD carry strap. Cordura nylon being quite a tough soft case.
When are we going to see some new numbers with this new valve seat??? I'm very curious about this one.

I thought the PEEK part was new, so I must have missed it before... Did you see any differences in the pre-load required to crack the valve open?
