Having read about these Ukrainian pups for near 2 years now having to weed threw the fact & fiction of "Short" & "Standard" configurations, finally made the plunge ordering a Standard which is just 27 1/2" long.
While there Short is 22" & change, did not want to sacrifice power or stability having such a compact version.

Have to say all that has been said on a positive note rings true ... Trigger is So adjustable it rivals some of the best MATCH GRADE triggers I own on Long guns ( AG's ) The CZ barrel is well ACCURATE as all get out !

Overall mechanics, metal work, fit & finish is absolutely top shelf stuff and so telling of what the Eastern Europeans / Ex USSR countries can manufacture. Honestly world class stuff here !!

If there is a fault ? ... it would be that the WOOD WORK is just average being nothing fancy & 100% Function & Form over aesthetics & pleasing lines/ shapes.

As a note of internal mechanics ... was very interested to view and decipher there "SORTA" way of having a "No BOUNCE" type hammer / spring configuration.
Similar to FWB / STEYR and likely others, the hammer is just a long rod with a catch ring for holding sear.
It weights just a tad over 16 grams ( Super light weight ) and is compressed against ONE VERY HEAVY spring having a very short stroke. There is ABSOLUTELY NO PRELOAD PRESENT upon firing having the spring throwing the hammer at poppet with a spring so stiff there is no way a bounce could get generated.
* In reading threads over on the TALON forum those who have them & crunched efficiency numbers claim 1.8 - 2.0 FPE/cuin. While personally have not run the numbers yet myself, it would not surprise me once turned down a bit from factory power setting as delivered.

Power as it came out of the box was insane !!! ... JSB 15.9's @ 1030 fps yet still accurate inside 50 yards.
Noise while muffled indeed had a crack in the sound signature. Once over the Chrony turned it down to shoot the 15.9's @ 910 fps the noise level collapsed to a dull pop being IMO very back yard friendly and still accurate as heck.

This is my latest gun to fool with and while MOST feel these Mutants are ready to rock right away and honestly don't need to be fiddled with ... I'm a tweaker / tuner & will be fiddling to find out what makes these Pups tick while fine tuning what I can find ...

This an INTERNET photo. They come in BLACK or a BROWN wood stock. There are 3 lengths of @ 22" for the short, @ 28 for standard and @ 30" for the long.
ONLY the SHORT & STANDARD seem too have been sold thus far .. tho hear from a dealer spoken with they have the Long now to sell.

Dang, sounds way cool! If I hadn't picked up the Mrod of Dez and the pup stock from you, this gun would probably have been the one I bought.

Good review, thanks! I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the internals and tuning, and the shot count before/after tuning.

I'm more simple, so I actually LIKE the look of the stock. It's simple and robust looking (like the rest of the rifle).

Thanks for the report Sott! I've been eyeing one of these lately. I'm torn between waiting until they produce a .25 in the long version or buying one in .22 standard and not missing the sale. Anyone have any insight into how long the sale will last or when the .25 will be produced? Or if it will be produced in the long version? Sounds awesome. Really wish they get a .25 version out. A buddy has the shorty and its makes a killer barn pest removal tool. Nice guns for sure.

If your cheek is rested and you're looking through the scope, the bolt is behind you? Is this a single shot rifle?

With typical 3-4" eye relief scope your cheek set right on the receivers back section. Cocking levers can be moved to the left side if wanted. ( unique feature )
Comes with 2 TWELVE shot mags and a Single shot tray.

I'm sorry if I just don't want to spend that much on a rifle that when you show it off looks In pictures, like my sons pine wood derby project.Even as good as it functions. Don't get me wrong, I'm a function over form guy all day... But that stock looks like an after thought trip to Home Depot.

Scoped at 8.8#, bare gun @ 7#
Actually there one of the LIGHTEST pups being built and nearly 2# lighter than a Cricket ( Sons scoped is 10.6# )

My Baby Rocks.... 5.5 lbs spitting 18.1s at 865 fps...

Mines sporting the Vortex 2.5 x 10 FFP perfect Match.... Took these guys out at about 50 yards.

The .25 is in the Works. If you don't mind a .22 you may wanna scoop one up now. Right now were talking end of the year for the .25.. ( oct - dec time frame)... still a lot of testing. Its based off the action but there are some changes being made due to the larger calibers...

Ok ... some actual pictures.

Few changes replacing the Black iron screws with Stainless otherwise a factory Standard Mutant.
IMO stock while simple, falls short of a soapbox derby car "Chunk-o-timber"
