My first review of Xisico Model XS46U

First off, thank you all for the wisdom that is available at this site!  Time to pay it back with a review and project.  I'm very new to shooting airguns as an adult with a more mature mindset than I had when I was 12.  This review will be aimed at folks new and/or coming back into airguns.

This is the springer only with a basic tune from Mike.  I cannot begin to express how cool Mike is on the phone and through e-mail. 

Mike included the FPS on the Pellets he tested.  They are as follows:
RWS Hobby: 744
RW Super Domes: 687
Gamo Hunter: 681
Crosman HPs: 704
JSB 18gr: 624

I have about 1000 Crosman HP's to play with for the break in.  This being a squirrel gun I've got plenty of FPE to deal with as long as it delivers the accuracy.

(1) initial thoughts

The fit and finish is great for $100.  It's pretty heavy for carrying around but it's better than carrying armor, combat loadout, and a weapon so I guess it's all relative.  I'm about 1/3 through with a 500 tin of chps and can consistently hit minute of dog food can at 30 yards.  Cocking is a breeze at 28 pounds leading to comfortable shooting all day at 15-16 fpe.  I'm not a fan of the safety mechanism.  You have to pull a tab in front of the trigger to disengage.  I wouldn't want a new shooter to have a negligent discharge.

There is decent space for a bipod, but I've heard bipods don't do well on springers.  I'm going to epoxy a section of rail under the rifle for mounting and testing.  If it doesn't work out I can use it for a sling mount.

I'm on a kindle now so I'll have to wait until Monday when I get back from the ranch to upload some pics.

Hope yall had a great weekend of family, food, beer, and shooting like we did.  Here's the two that came with me in the airplane.  And the easy project of throwing a bi-pod on the 46U



All the parts: UTG something bipod and it's too short so I'll most likely end up replacing it, Magpul Moe rail I had laying around, two screws I had in the "jar", wood glue.



Test fit; you can still cock the rifle and have the bipod folded in the up position.


Measure once, cut once.  Do it right the first time:

Mounted and set.  This works very well for not laying your rifle down in the dirt or leaning up against a tree.





I threw about 500 CHPs through her with Irons and I'm waiting on another optic after I stripped the allen heads on the 2400kt.  It'll hit out 75 on some crab tree apples with irons so I think this one will be a keeper. 

Next update will be 3rd week of May when I head back out to the ranch for all the pellet testing.  Thanks for looking!

So..the bi pod + a rice sack squeeze bag seems to be doing alright with the 46u.  I have a couple HUUUUUUGGGGEEE announcements.  # 1 I'm looking for a guy that is good with a back hoe or motivated enough to dig a series of holes approxmately 6 feet deep by 8 feet long by about 3-4 foot wide.  Again...I need a series of these and they must be able to retain their walls for about 14-24 years from now.  #2 My awesome wife just gave me a new hunting baby / daughter.  #3 I just blew about $500 on a hipac unit + hill pump.

Sorry for the lack of posts in this thread.  I have decided on the RWS Super Point .22 in 14.5.  It's the cheapest / most accurate pellet I can put through this rifle.  I can typically hit 1 inch groups at 40 yards with this pellet and have taken about 11-14 Sparrows, 3 good sized cotton tails, and about 6-7 squirrels out at the property with this rifle.  Right now I'm figuring out the dope with the mildot holdover in regards to mapping a dope sheet between hawke's chairgun and practical testing.  I should be back out at the ranch on Friday where I can get some more testing done.

Jr_explorer, let me know if you want me to do any experiments or testing and I can post the results back up next week. 


I also took off the bipod...they don't belong on springers unfortunately.
