We don't have Asian Murder-Death-Devil-Antichrist Hornets here in VA, but we do have LARGE hornets, and I have yet to meet any that survive CO2-propelled RWS Meisterkugeln wadcutters via my 2400KT.  I snipe them regularly at distances greater than their general cognizance, as I have no desire to get closer than needed.  20-yard splats are the norm.

Now for general mayhem, I have found a can of 3M spray glue an amazing tool when encountering a ground hornet nest.  Shake well, then start spraying as they exit.  They cannot fly with glued wings and quickly cluster-bomb the entrance to their own hive, clogging up the entrance quickly.  After properly "glued", apply canned heat as per your favorite Benzomatic or Turbo-Torch and revel in the crackle-pop!  I "resolved" my last ground hornet nest last summer and the results ensured my dogs, the ex-, and myself were all un-stung.

My ground hornet nest killer is a long neck beer bottle full of gasoline, then wait till dusk when they are all in the nest and plug the nest entrance with the long neck turned upside down so the gas drain into the nest. Kills every last one including the queen. No chance of getting stung.

I once found a nest with a push mower cutting the yard and parked the mower over the nest thinking the blades would kill them all, maybe only 10 % got killed but I had to let the mower run out of gas before they settled down so I could retrieve the mower.

Long neck full of gas is my nest killer.

Lots of interesting replies. My brother-in-law is a huge Bug A Salt fan and I was chuckling earlier today at how he's gonna pay when he shoots one of these things with it. Their exoskeleton will take no small amount of force to penetrate and while rock salt would probably do it, I want nothing to do with the table salt trick.

I'm almost certain I killed one of these last year here in Kentucky, which would probably be a revelation to anyone who studies them. Ground hornets are common around here, seem to be solitary creatures and almost qualify as docile in my book. I have seen several hives of them, though. There was one in a hollow red oak beside our driveway last year and the scoped Daisy 880 helped keep their numbers in check. It was fun shooting. Anyway, my youngest daughter came running upstairs late last summer and said the biggest hornet she'd ever seen was in one of the downstairs windows. I expected a ground hornet but no, it was the biggest hornet I'd ever seen, too. It looked like a juvenile HOSP on the window sill. It was also NOT docile. It came for me when I moved in to about 8-10 feet from it, but I swatted it with my ball cap and it flew back to the window. I took a couple more steps and here it came again! I swung for the fence that time, bounced it off the floor, and it flew right back up into the window. That second shot must've hurt it because it fell onto its back on the window sill and was buzzing in angry circles. The pocketknife finished that one off before it could regain its senses. There was quite a lot of orange and brown coloring about it, not at all like a ground hornet. We wrote it off as some genetic anomaly, cleaned up the mess and went on with our lives. Wish I'd known about these "murder hornets" then so it could be positively identified. If another one shows up I'll turn it over to the county extension agent.

Great motivation to build a dedicated hornet rifle, or so it seems to me. And I'm absolutely naming it "Murder Hornet"

I actually did this at work. I took TWO cans of brake cleaner. The coolest use for a drone I have ever seen is chopping hornets and wasps. I have been stung well over 100 times and I can't say I really cared for any of them.

I used Spray adhesive, the type for HVAC, it sprays a Web out wide spray pattern, it sticks them right in place and they also will fly right into the spray, spray the nest to permanently stick wasps to it, it works on Black Widows too, get them at their own game.....

I used a rolled up newspaper on the end of a broomstick with diesel for years.
When I stopped taking the newspaper I went with WD40 and a bic lighter.
The 3M77 spray contact glue sounds like a good idea.

Now some 8 shot in a soda straw sealed with candle wax sounds like a good idea too.

For the paper wasp nests on the vineyard, I used my Ranger 45 without bullets on the wasp nests made of paper, I assume  which they are named for.

Usual drill was to stick the muzzle tight against the nest and pull the trigger, that would blow a cantaloupe sized nest into postage stamp sized paper falling from the roof eves  to the ground, where the 2nd shot ground sliced them, the survivors would take to the air but they were plenty dizzy by then and never made it higher than a couple feet, while I continued to work the bolt and hit them with air from the third shot which with the  Ranger was enough to get a 408 grain bullet to around 700 FPS on the 3rd shot.

I never got stung either.

I have GOT to try this! You're talking about the nasty, chlorinated stuff that makes sarin gas when you weld on it, right? I've heard that type of brake cleaner supposedly kills and cripples a number of welders every year when they use it to prep a weld and then superheat it with a welding arc.

I could not get past the first minute of this video.  I was stung by about a dozen hornets on the farm clearing old fence posts.  Those weren't giant hornets; just the regular everyday all American hornets.

Those winged devils hurt more than you can imagine.  So I don't need to watch the rest of the video.  I'll take his word for it.

I have GOT to try this! You're talking about the nasty, chlorinated stuff that makes sarin gas when you weld on it, right? I've heard that type of brake cleaner supposedly kills and cripples a number of welders every year when they use it to prep a weld and then superheat it with a welding arc.

I was not aware of the dangers of welding after cleaning with chlorinated brake cleaner. But yes I use the CRC brand in the red can found at walmart since when used with the long red tube nozzle it shoots a micro precise stream out to about 10 feet so you can hit them with plenty of escape distance between you and them. If you hit them with a direct solid blast of the cleaner they immediately drop to the ground and shrivel up dead in less than a minute.

I do not use the green can non chlorinated stuff so have no idea if it works or not.
