Yong Heng compressor ... I just bought 1 ...

all i can say it keep it simple...i never had a problem using the recommended oil going on three years using BOTH my cheap little yong hengs.matter of fact after three years of pumping air they have not let me down nor have run times increased...use them for what they were designed to do and there will be no problems.when the air pressure gets up around 2500 psi the yong heng really smooths out and jumps right up to 3300 psi with no strain at all.fill time from 145 bar to 225 bar is around 50 seconds and temp to 41c.

You are not running very long at all ,and you are not going up to as much as 4300 psi like a lot of us have to , to charge tanks ,and big bore guns that run on that higher pressure that take longer run times with more heat build up , the guys that are running longer higher charge times are noticing carbon ,and burning oil residue in the high pressure side of the compressor with even running royal purple , that maybe the best low pressure compressor oil ,...

{The low pressure low run time that you are doing maybe  allows you to get away with -running the lower quality oil } but keep in mind the machine is designed to run around 4300 psi manufactures specs ...

 so what were trying to accomplish is running the compressor to it's full potential with out doing the damage to it , by running the diester oil that can with stand higher pressure, and the heat that goes along with it , thats why you see paintball / dive / fire department  compressors run the diester based oils … they have too ...or burn up their compressors …

I'd like to think which oil makes little difference....but we somehow want to think that the cheap choice is "good'nuff". Maybe it is,maybe not...havent run 10 of the darn things to destruction to find out.   Best we seem to have is ONE guy, ONE compressor,that ran it ONE way.

Is there seriously anyone that thinks that the "right" (more expesnive)oil does HARM and decreases compressor life?...or are we thinking "good'nuff"and save some up-front money for sooner repair money?

Economically we all chose "good'nuff" when we bought a SY....so we're in in the mind set of "good'nuff" is OKfor what I do....don't breath it, doesn't have to be SCUBA quaility airor last into the next decade...but extending that to the basic life-blood of a mechanical system is likely not "good'nuff".

Don't we kind of make the same cost/benefit decisions in the PELLETS we shoot?...but in that case,the results are immediate rather than long term.



Anyway....compressors can spoil you.

Been playing with two 13CI bottle rifles for most of the last week or so....two rifles,4 different output bottles (825/ 975/1050/ 1225psi outputs)...and a lot of shooting.

Would NOT have been easy-going about those tests if I had to hand pump  4X 13cuin (basically 860cc's) from 0-3000psi thought 3 fills each (now more like pumping 2580cc's ifrom 0 to 3K).

Been about 2years.....am going to keep using the best oils....maybe money "wasted",but if it last another 2 years,will consider it worth it.

Keith good job !  … sorry you didn't get for the same price I paid … I think there was a bunch more sellers with them at the time ,and I must have got lucky , but at least you  have 1 at a decent price , if you go back threw ,and read all the data on this thread so far , it will give you a good idea how to run it , and the correct cooling /correct high pressure compressor oil to run ….. You will be so glad you invested in this charge equipment ,so you can enjoy your shooting ..

The only challenge that remains is to source a good compressor oil. How many quarts/liters does it take? A quick google search shows a lot of 5 gallon buckets of oil, but I just want to get the first fill right now.

here is the link to buy the real stuff made for high pressure compressors it cost about the same as running royal purple that is not designed to run in a high pressure compressor  , Nuvair 751 same thing as chemlube 751 ,

I bought a gallon so I have enough to last for years ,and I wont have to  worry about it , but you can get a quart to get started ...I think it would give you about  3 changes of oil ?,since your machine is new I would treat it good by putting the right stuff in it , if you order it now it will get there before the compressor arrives to you .. link below ..

I just bought a half gallon of Chemlube 751 here for 63.00 shipped. ($36 for the oil, $23.35 shipping & $3.65 in tax) off eBay. Ordered Monday and will be here today. Shipped by ProTec Air Systems out of Corpus Christi, TX.

I just got my Yong Heng pump just before Christmas (used, NEW) from a guy that got it as a gift and knew nothing about it or the gun he got. He didn't want it and sold it to me. It had oil already in it and I used it about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and the oil was turning dark and it was starting to give off a burnt oil smell. Shut it off and drained it and will refill it today and run it for a short time and probably drain and refill again to make sure all the old stuff is out.

Do you know what type of oil the guy put in it originally ? … You made the right move buying the chemelube 751 ,that will probably save that compressor from and early death …

NO royal purple is not designed to run in HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSORS ! period ! its made for low pressure compressors HUGE difference !  ...we have members on here that are seeing burning oil/carbon residue in the high pressure side of the compressor running royal purple !  …. go back ,and read this thread  , why on earth would you buy royal purple that cost the same price over chemlube 751 that is designed for this high pressure compressor ? ….
