Yong Heng compressor ... I just bought 1 ...

Well I bit the bullet again , and bought a new one off ebay yong heng compressor  … offered $250 and they excepted it … it looks like there is a new batch of them on EBAY but they are going quick .

I figured for the price with 2 yr warranty free return,  will be a good back up to my shoebox , plus I don't know how long back up parts are going to available with Tom ,and the fact he has jacked up about double the price on back up parts 

you guys that have these and running the yong heng , what are you using to run them , and any tricks to making them last longer would be appreciated

Jealous, but in a position,that if there is more stimulus money,and there may well be, this and a tank are forsure on my list. and I'veyet to hand pump an HPA pump (who doesn't like ease and convenience).  I only hope my lust for certain guns doesn't overwhelm my sense.  I will prioritize a compressor, but I could see myself getting a gun over a tank and regretting that choice later.  This is oneof the reasons I did gowith a Hatsaninte end though, hopefully can afford a couple of extra air cylinders for my AT44S-10 QE.  IDK if the standard AT44S-10 QE can accept the long air cylinder, but I expect it probaby can?

Use a larger water pump to increase flow. For longer cylinder fills I dump ice into cooling bucket. Watch temperature, if water flow stops you can bake seals in less than a minute.

Order a replacement first stage piston/second stage piston with seals/piston connecting rod. They can be had for <$20 and replaced in fifteen minutes or less. The piston and seals are the most common fail point and it's a slow boat from china to replace.

Large Coalescing filter has been working great for many of us. It requires no consumables, just drain it.

Compressor ships dry, I use compressor oil with no odor issues. Replace after break-in.

Be prepared to teflon tape connections on initial runs.

Dan , forget the warranty part, you'll sleep better. Maybe Amazon or walmart, but not ebay.  Did you purchase the warranty, cause I see sometimes they offer that. Maybe it may be good but I doubt it.The water pumpthing would be okay. In generalI run shorter times , heat is your best enemy here.

#1 .The next thing you buy should be this compressor yong heng , #2  buy a used scba 88cf tank for cheap + SS-CGA 347 Kits 1/4'' MNPT Hand Tight Nut  plus block with bleeder valve ,and fill whip …  once you acquire this the torture pumping is over with nothing but fun shooting to be had , after that you can collect more guns if you like … and if you are like most of us- you will ...

Get a better water pump locally (300GPH about $35). More water flow will help the compressor run cooler. It will also lift the water if the bucket is below the compressor.

We use the same type cooling system with small lasers. Submersible pump, 5 gallon bucket of water, and more often than not,  frozen Gatorade bottle of water in the bucket. Cool running.

For oil, I'm considering running Royal purple. Seems a lot of people do instead of the 46 compressor oil.

I use Air Venturi compresser oil from PA three years and still running like a clock but I did upgrade to a pond pump. I believe the key to keeping them running is keeping it cool and the oil clean.

The only biggie on oil is    just make sure it's not building a bomb, in other words non petroeim. You will get a certain amount of oilbypassing the rings, can't be helped.

I use about 10 frozen water bottles in a 8 gallon cooler and can fill a 90 Minute tank without overheating, currently having to blowdown the LP and HP drains about every half hour.

I run mine about 15 min on a 9 litre tank top off.  5 gal of room temp water and some water wetter additive.  Keeps it under 60 degrees.

Mine failed this week after a year.  Seems they have the piston rod side-loaded as it's pushing up from the side.  That coupled with vibration broke the rod I believe.  I modified the spare one I have to operate closer to the center of the piston.  Only time will tell if my mod helped or did not.

I also modified the internal fan, but have not done a fill since then. 

I run a coalescing charcoal tower with drain spout to get water/oil out of the fill charge as well as the cotton filter afterward so I can see if anything gets thru.  Almost nothing does

YES !  thanks ! …. I just called the 1 close to me and they will have a quart for me in the morning   …. score !    well that's 1 thing I don't have to wait for shipping or worry about …

I did also found 1 Gallon units  of this Mobile 1 product that John = gendoc on GTA here who  has been using it ,and said it worked great

 =MOBIL 100814 Mobil DTE 25, Hydraulic, ISO 46, SAE Grade 20, 1 gal …. found it on ebay so far  for about $35 shipped  … I don't know if it works as good as royal purple ,but I did notice it has a zinc additive in it ,like their 15-50 synthetic race oil that I use in my hot rod cars that I have ,and it works fantastic ,and that product  I can get it at Walmart for low $20's for 5 quarts on sale  , hard to beat at that low price .

Some hydraulic fluids contain sulfer and can contribute to odors. Members of this forum have bitterly complained about flatulence like emissions from their rifles...

A Dive compressor oil is optimized for our use. It is not petroleum based, and does not bread down at very high pressures. Cooter 2  just learned this recently, and also noted that the temp ran substantially lower with proper dive compressor . Coltri seems to be about the cheapest. I would have a long talk with Royal Purple engineers before using it. They have stated in the past that it is NOT rated for high pressure compressors.
