Just put on a simmons 22mag 4x32, a lot more clearer. Shot some ok groups but needs a lot more rounds before it settles in. I am about one hundred now. I may have over lubed a little. Will just have to shoot it through. Mike

Shooting the new Winnie domes. My HW95 loves them. Tomorrow will pull the the flat spring. Going to go slow with the trigger mods, one at a time with many rounds shot between mods. Mike

All my daisies make a sound at the end of the stroke. Not so much a pop, but a light suction sound if that makes sense.

Anyone ever beefed up the pump arm to cut down on the flexing. It wouldn't be to hard to do. And I bet there would be some increase in fps. Mike

Just a note on making the 1977xs feel more gun like. I slipped on a Simms recoil pad. Made the stock pull a little longer and made the gun stand up without the chance of slipping. Mike

Mike,

Just a word on taking out your flat spring. On reassembly of the trigger group, the trigger spring is more of a “bear” to get back in as it is a stiffer spring than on the 880.... just a heads up on that.

I did the c/c mod to my 1977, but had to use a very thin card, much thinner than I use on my 880’s, and it popped off after a few shots.
Eventually i’ll try it again, but for now i’m Shooting it like it is.

On that popping sound... I have one 880 that has a “loose” reciever. It moves back and forth a 1/32” when I pump it and makes that popping sound you described. It shoots very accurately, but at about 25 to 30 FPS less than my other 880’s.
It could be shimmed or pinned at the abutment, but I just haven’t done it.
Not saying that’s what yours is doing, but on that particular 880 that was the source of the sound.
I caught it while doing a trigger mod on it and pumping it while I had the side plates off. I could see the whole reciever move back and forth slightly while pumping it, so head space is making a slight reduction in speed on that one I guess.
Still nail driving accurate though, so I have’nt bothered fixing it.

Actually, my 1977 makes that same slight sound, but only right at the first on the first up stroke of the pump, then it does’nt do it anymore.
It’s at the very first of the up stroke though, not at the top of the stroke, and only on the first pump stroke each shot.

I only noticed it after you posted about yours.

The arm on the 1977 is the stiffest plastic one Daisy has offered, and is a marked improvement over the prior plastic arms on the 880.
If you can find the correct one, you could sub the metal arm off an earlier 880, but there sere several configurations for keeping the arm closed. You would need to find the one for the coll spring retention used on the 1977.

Btw, I took the coil spring pump arm retainer out of my 1977, same as I do on my 880’s.
No problems so far despite the pressure the pump arm is under.
Of course I kept the spring in case needed in the future.

Hot news:
Today I received a recently purchased 882.
It would not pump up: exhaust valve problem (trash in the valve... a $0.00 fix...)
So, I disassembled it...............SURPRISE ! It utilizes the latest chamber seal configuration.....
That means that I should be able to swap 1977 parts into it without problem to boost the performance!
The sear spring is already pretty stout..........may not need replacing. We'll see.
So, the 1977/822 hybrid will be on the horizon!
Also removed the flat lawyer spring.

Man, this 1977 may open up a whole new modding world on 880’s and clones of the 880.

I’ll be glad when this darn virus settles down and we can all concentrate on things like this more.
Supposed to hit 90* here this week.,.. hope it fries it into oblivion!!!!

It's hot news for 2 reasons:

First, laments have been passed in this thread as to the lack of a Daisy .22 pumper based on the 1977 pump.
Second, I had thought that the 822's which I have seen were based on the old chamber seal.
Those would probably not lend themselves to the higher pump pressures (besides having a piston which had a concave groove around the perimeter of the face.)....I could be incorrect here..........

Now, all I need is a donor 1977 or parts to become available.

Well went past the point of no return I believe on my trigger mod. Took to much of the hammer sear and when I disengage the safety it fires. Any ideas? I thought that I could add some material to the safety flat or remove some. I read where you fellow members have ordered 880parts,did you purchase directly from Daisy or another supplier. Any help would be great. Mike

I have ordered many parts from Daisy.
They are VERY inexpensive.
Daisy will send you the parts breakdown for the 880 if you ask them.

The trigger parts should be the same as your 1977.

Did you do the c/c mod to the trigger, or did you just polish the trigger, or both?
You say you took too much off the sear.... do you mean by polishing?
