I told Buddy yesterday I would put the 77 on the chrono today so here are my initial results. Completely stock gun with the flat spring in it still but that may change.

All shots were recorded about 2 feet from the muzzle using a caldwell ballistic precision chronogragh.

10 pumps with JSB exact diabolo 8.44
Avg of 759.9fps

8 pumps, which is generally what I used hunting
Avg of 709fps

According to my weather app it is a steamy 48 degrees right now.

1 shot at 10 pumps with daisy flat nose
781 fps.

So that's what I got.

Well, I just HAD to do it.....
Finally received my Academy credit card.
It gave me a 15% discount on my first order (I had thought it was $15.00....)
But, pulled the trigger on another 1977 rather than wait for stock to be depleted of price to go up.......

May be a smart move... think I may pick up another one too. No telling when parts may be available for them now with everything that’s going on.
Besides, I like to have at least 2 of my favorite airguns around for when my brother visits from Co. to go squirrel hunting....at least, that’s my excuse.

Out of boredom and just for fun:
8gr. Gamo roundballs

5 pumps
615.0
618.9
619.5
618.9
617.2
For 617.9 FPS. And 6.7 ft. lbs.
6/8” for 5 shots at 20 yds.

1 shot each at 6 and 10 pumps
6 pumps 653 FPS.
10 pumps 742.9

First groups with 6 and 10 pumps ran about 1 1/2”, but the main cluster was under an inch...
May have taken awhile to get the bore seasoned to the lube( graphite.. whatever), as by the time I tried 5 pumps it tightened up.
I’ll try them again tomorrow night just for fun.

Well, the avg. group size with gamo round balls and 5 pumps proved out to be 1 1/4” at 20 yds.
1 1/2” with 6 and 10 pumps... oh well, it was fun.

At least they tightened up some after the trigger mod I did.
Before that I got shotgun patterns with them.

Tried the Beeman pointed 8.5 gr. again, but for the first time since I did the trigger mod.
Guess the trigger work did the trick on these, as they’re shooting just as tight as the daisy flatnose now at 20 yds. benched.

The weird thing is on 6 pumps they shoot about 3/8” left when zeroed for 10 pumps?
First time i’ve had a pellet do that.
Hope that’s just bbl. harmonics, and not an indication they corkscrew.
I’ll try to shoot them at more distance this weekend.

Fedex delivered a box about the right size today, along with a new microwave oven for the Mrs......
Hard as it is for me to admit (especially to myself) mommie's oven got all my attention.....

Had to undo the credit card mod on the 1977... started going off when I pushed the bolt home!

Still had a 3 to 3/12 lb. trigger when it would’nt just let go.
Got to be that heavy trigger spring.
Anyway, I put it back to a stock trigger, and all is well again.
I may experiment with slightly lighter springs sometime....or not.
In the meantime, it’s polished itself a bit just from a lot of shooting. Not bad from the bench; just a bit of a challenge offhand.

Added a Geo LDC to the Winchester and also on one of my latest 880”s.
Loudest sound now is the pellet hitting the backstop lol.
Did’nt change velocity on the 880 one bit, but the Winchester lost 30 FPS.
An extra pump puts it right back where it was though.

Squirrels beware next season!!

Okay,
Don’t know what I did wrong last night when I shot across the chrony with the Winchester, but I did it again with the LDC in place and actually gained about 7 FPS. per pump tonight with the LDC vs. before without it. Don’t have a clue why it showed a 30 ft. Per second loss last night. Now it’s back to 700 FPS. at the muzzle on 6 pumps and 802 FPS. on 10 pumps with daisy flat nose pellets.
5.5 FPS. Extreme spread at 6 pumps and 5 FPS. Extreme spread at 10 pumps!

Guess a little trash got hung in the valve last night? Don’t have a clue, but it’s back to normal now plus a little more.
