Yeah I don't really need another one. I just entertained the thought if they were still 69. Mine is a dedicated hunter, so when I get decent weather, my practice will be comprised of time spent with my 880 and 901. With this pandemic and everything shut down as far as recreational activities, I just wish the weather would cooperate for some back yard plinking.

Well, looks like I was wrong when I said the crosman piranah’s did’nt hold up in this rifle.
Tried them again last night after shooting some Daisy flat nose, and sure enough, I was all over the place with the piranah’s.
THEN I realized, I was tenseing up “trying to make them shoot”, and I was holding my thumb in a different position.... much lower than usual.
Went back to holding it on top of the first joint of my second finger and it was jam city!

It just took getting used to the thumbhole stock and the best hand position for shooting it.
They’re dead center about a 1/2” low of where the daisy’s hit, so about 4 clicks up on the scope when I shoot piranahs.

This is only the second rifle i’ve had that would shoot piranah’s at all. The other one is my 880 that i filled the piston head in with jb weld.
That’s 2 pellets it likes so far.

I'm just jealous people get to shoot. Gonna drop down to 19 degrees tonight, with the wind chill, that'swhat it is now. I am so ready for nice weather. For those who can, keep slinging the lead, I can watch from a far. Lol

I sighted mine in and hunted with it on 8 pumps. I bet the 8.44's I was using were cruisin.

Leonard, lol,

Most of my shooting is indoors; down the hall, through the dining room, laundry room, and into the lower den... 20 yds.... I can get 25 yds. If I put the bench right in front of the back bathroom door

Of course, I live alone. Going to keep it that way as long as I can

I’ve got a back yard I can get an easy 50 yds. In. Need to fence it in so the neighbors don’t know what’s going on though.
It is nice to be able to shoot indoors when it’s too cold or wet outside.

I’ve got some 8.4 gr. pointed beeman pellets... i’ll try to chrono them later tonight. At least that would give you an idea of your speed.

Wow ! I knew I liked the gun before, but this thing is a beast. Power of a springer with the accuracy of a pumper.

Well I hope all of you folks are happy, been reading about this gun her and toyed with the idea of maybe getting one. Well just happened to go to Tractor Supply for some WD40 and left with the WD40 and a 1977xs. The funny thing is I went by two stores the shell the WD40 way cheaper, must have the virus and not thinking rite. Cleaned the barrel and have put twenty five rounds through her. Number eleven took a Enlish sparrow, first kill. Will shoot some more rounds before putting the scope on. Thanks again. Mike

I can,t figure it out,I own three great German guns, three PCPs and the normal assortment of Benjamin pumper and break barrels along with a couple of Mike,s Flying Dragon full tunned guns and can,t stay away from the cheap pumpers. I guess I am in the club. Mike

Lol, i’m the same way about the pumpers.
I just got back from Academy Sports on a pellet run.
They still had one 1977 left, but had a double stack of the black stocked 880’s right beside it for $49.99.... I came close to picking one up... very very close.
Would have made no sense at all, as I already have 4 880”s

I don’t think you’ll regret picking up that 1977 though. Earlier this afternoon I put a 10.5 gr. Crosman piranah 5/8” deep into a full 1” “hard” pine board at 20 yds. That’s skull cracking for a $70.00 pumper.

Well just got in from shooting and got my second kill a Eurasion dove at fifteen yards. Well have 100rounds through mine haven,t put the scope on yet but have a question on my up stroke at the end I get a little pop sound, anyone else have this. After about 75rounds I gave it a drop of Macs secret sauce. Maybe that's how this gun sounds while pumping. The piston does seem a lot more sturdy than the 880s. Are you guys using the supplied scope, a lot better than the 880. Mike

Mike,

Have’nt noticed a popping sound at the end of the stroke on mine.
I did start with the scope that came with mine, but have since swapped it out for a Winchester 4x32 AO scope.
The supplied scope was serviceable, but the Winchester is naturally much clearer with the adj. objective.
I get them for $30.00 at Academy Sports.
