Bill, I can relate to working in that miserable heat+humidity.  Once it gets hard to take deep breathes, you know it is time to cool down and rehydrate.  Truth be told, I drink beer, electrolyte mix water, and eat a lot of pickles in that type of heat.

 I got my customer's database delivered to our QA team, so they should be going live on our newer software early next week.  Now I'm tackling some data that- unfortunately- is too darn ambiguous for the type of precision my job entails.  Back to the project manager it goes....


Sonja is back from errands; during lunch I explained what was going on with that submerisble, the Titan.  Pretty sketchy stuff.  No transponder?  F'ing scrubs.  I won't even call the co-owners rookies.  They're hacks.  Anyhooooo... after relating depth, pressure, pressure tanks, and the extreme depths to my wife, she shrugged and replied, "So they're done fore."    I added we know more about the back side of our tidally locked moon than we do about the ocean floor. 

A pity those tourists paying a quarter of a million dollars apiece are now part of a debris field, but the stakes are really high at those depths.  Do I think there should be regulations for those typs of tourists?  Nope.  Not at all.  People control their own destinies, especially when they have that type of disposable wealth.

I drink alot of ice water when we're out working in it. We take several breaks which is why the tasks take so long to complete.
Beer.. lol.. if I drink the beer like I do the water we wouldn't get much done. After 3 or 4 it's like.. "We can finish this up tomorrow, how about another cold beer".

They wanted a Barn venue and country styled wedding and got it. My feet sure hurt because I am not use to wearing cowboy boots. "The barn" was a nice reception hall. The wedding was outside and was in a beautiful spot.

The fencing is officially done....

As a last minute executive decision I went to the local lumber/hardware store and bought 2 treated 8' landscape timbers and a 80# bag of concrete. At the head of the driveway I went off a tree with the 10' panel of 6' dog kennel panel with the mandoor gate. At the end of that I sunk a post. 20' from that I sunk another. I fill that space with 2 10' panels of the dog kennel. This gives us a mandoor gate to pack in groceries and a 2 panel 20' gated opening. It spans 30' total.
This work gave 1 more day for the yard to dry up. Tomorrow we can get back to getting the remainder of out stuff out of the bar/mancave. After tomorrow the bar/mancave is in our rearview mirror.
I also took the cat6 outdoor cable that I had ran to the bar/cave and redirected it into the Red Shed. I now have hardwire/wireless internet in there as opposed to just wifi. I will put the 32" SMART security camera TV in there for monitoring 4 cameras and streaming TV. The 8 camera system from the bar/mancave will move to the house.
Next phase will be to clear small trees and bushes from the house acre to open it up and make more usable yard space.

I spent the day riding herd on a couple of undermotivated seasonal employees.  Lead by example.

I supervised them string trimming, stick edging, and collecting downed timber from the recent storms.

One kid is alright the other is a slacker but I got some useful work out of him.  Lots of dead trees dropping after all these storms.  About 5:30 I got a call from LE that a big tree was down across the main park drive.  I’m supposed to be on light duty but I suited up and grabbed a couple of chainsaws.  Checked them both at the shop to make sure they ran.  Gassed and oiled them both.  Got to the scene and the 40” Stihl wouldn’t start.  Grabbed the 24” Stihl and went at it from both sides.  Bucked it up into three big pieces and rolled it out of the road.  I set the kids to cleaning the bathrooms while I wrote incident reports and cleaned saws.

Sam that's happened to me before as well so now I keep the saws full where I can just grab and go but I always test saws before taking them to location also. Best to be aggravated with it not starting without also being ticked carrying a saw there and back for no reason. Good luck with the hands. Just had another storm here after getting the yard clean finally from last storm. I'll wait until tomorrow to scan for more fallen limbs.

"Light duty" is a joke in the park service.  There ain't no light duty when the feces impacts the rotating airfoil.  You do what you gotta do.  I was the only available ranger in the park when this went down.  One of the LEO helped me roll them though.

Well, just got finished giving chance a bed bath then loaded him up in the wife's FJ so she could take him to the vet and put him to sleep. 14 years old and 100 lbs so as the vet said "he's 5 years past his experation date. He stopped eating a few days ago and he can't stand up so he can go outside. That's why he needed a bed bath as he was full of pee and diarrhea.

Sorry to hear. Had to let my nearly 17 year old Shiba Inu go last week. Knowing it’s best for them doesn’t make it any easier. Thoughts are with y’all.

Dogs are such wonderful friends.   We outlive so many of them.   The joy when they are with us must exceed the pain of losing them or else we'd never get another one.   It makes me sad to hear of one passing even though I've never met that particular pup before.
