Thanks for the chain info guys! Recently I cut limbs down with a heavy gas powered pole saw which coupled with the heavy humidity wore me out. Today I got a Ego pole saw which feels much lighter and I can use it's battery with my trimmer and vice versa. Tired of all the bugs in my garage despite not leaving the door open so I got a big bug zapper light and hung it up then not even 2 minutes went by when the first dirt dauber met it's fate. Went grocery shopping, mowed grass, blew debris off the driveway and back patio, cleaned the pool too. Bought a full size spare wheel as well so I can carry the wheel and tire in my trunk instead of using the skinny spare wheel and tire that came with the car that only allows 55mph.

Well Avatar. Fencing is not a bad job  hope the ground is not too stony  a decent fence needs post holes that deep enough    concreting  posts in is expensive and unneccesary  raming properly allows for a bit of adjustment ro get them right 
I suppose you use tanalised pine posts in Alabama but T posts suggest steel drive in posts  we call them Waratahs. Used for temporary fences here .   
I wonder why the new neighbour is or is expected to be troublsome   might be good people

Went out into the pine forest over the gully with the quad bike  Had the small trailer on to collect pine cones to start the fire.way up in the trees I got the quad stuck .Neither foward nor back could I go  .  A long walk home to get the chain saw and shovel to get the little green beast out . Nothing learned though because I reckon I will get it stuck again one day

We're not raising cattle here, just trying to keep a couple old dogs contained. Just standard "T" posts driven in.
It's not so much that we expect trouble. We've enjoyed our somewhat secluded life style for several years and now it feels like walls may be closing in. It will be an adjustment to us and the dogs. We've never had people this close to our borders.
We've been told that his intended use for the building would be a lodge for his Florida buddies when they come during hunting season. But we've been told many things lately that turned out not to be true.

That's just about all we use here in Arizona.

Our dog run is T-posts and hogwire out on our property.  Since we have VERY RECENTLY seen black bear close by, the fence is a must-have. 


We actually have to deal with some recent trespassers on our property cutting across the flood-plain field rather than using the easement road.  I confronted the arse-clowns and made it very clear as long as they stay on the access road, they're fine.  I'm sure they were not happy but they don't own the land; we do, and the "community bylaws" for this chunk of paradise ensures we can legally fence in the entire thing and the owners of the kayak rental "company" operating illegally (no public/business access is allowed except for farming, in writing) will have to create their own path down an 80 foot slope with a 70-degree pitch on their own property- something I'm sure they don't want since lugging kayaks up and down an 80-foot staircase wouldn't be fun. 

It's messy but we get to dictate how/who/why/when/where since the easement's uses are explicitly delineated.  The farmer who manages the flood-plain fields has his own access verbiage written into the charter, since it all originally belonged to his family anyway. 


Since it is still early today, I'll rehash what I did yesterday- took the day off, did some errands, visited the in-laws, talked to my folks, and spent a couple hours working on the Billy Goat, followed by grinding/cleaning/welding/painting the Billy Goat's mower deck where some structural cracks were growing.  The blade belt somehow slipped between 2 pulleys; the tensioner ensured it still worked but it would stall within a couple minutes of operation.  After resetting it all and repairing the deck, the brush mower is ready for prime time.  Maybe my wife will let me operate it next time we use it.

Catch up time GTA,
We left home at 2:00 PM Sunday and 226 miles later had a flat on the RV trailer 

That was out in the middle of nowhere in the desert (it was 110 degrees) but, I had a new spare and jack and lug wrench. Where we pulled off to fix it the shoulder was very wide, about a lane and a half. I readjusted the passenger side rearview mirror to have a better view of the tires on the trailer after the flat that had gone unnoticed for too long (the tire was shredded). We had stopped about a half hour earlier and all the tires were cool enough to hold my hand on though.   

I think that the valve stem was either defective or damaged and cause the flat. The inner metal tube was blown through the rubber at the base on one side. I have never seen that before.

We got back on the road and I drove to Gallup NM before stopping to sleep for a few hours, got up and went to a tire shop and got a new spare before continuing.

Monday I drove to Elk City OK and stopped for a few hours sleep, got up went and had a McMuffin and coffee and hit the road again.  We arrived at my son's in southern MO without any real further trouble. We did have a dash warning and chime a couple of times that reported (LAMP OUT), I could not find a lamp out anywhere???

The Dodge 3500 Diesel pulls that trailer great and straight as an arrow with the easy lift hitch with anti-sway brake-bar even through some significant crosswinds that had others wandering lanes. I found no hills that slow it down more than 5mph while on cruise control between CA and MO. We went through Flagstaff and Albuquerque. Fuel mileage started off at 13.8 mpg up the mountains and we got 17.4 average for two fill-ups through the flat country. I went 350-400 miles before stopping to re-fuel most times.   

 About 3 hours after we left we got a phone call from our house/dog sitter informing us the the keys we left were the wrong  . 
 It was the set the grandson had given me back because having had moved to Idaho and he no longer needed them. I didn't check the the keys, because why would he give me two wrong keys?
 Fortunately another grandson had a set of keys about 30 miles away. We left the dogs in the house out of the heat when we left and Hank the Great Dane doesn't fit though the doggie door, LOL.

Glad to hear you made it without to much drama. You probably picked up a nail along the way and it took awhile to leak down and then you not noticing it was flat......

I was worried about the wind but leaving when you did you probably came through here during the calmer time of day.

I got up at 5:30 and Betty Lou got up shortly after. We headed out for our monthly bulk store run at around 8:00 and just got back at noon $350 lighter. Other than milk, eggs and bread mid month, we are fulling stocked for the month.
Rain held off until we were with 5 miles of being back home. Then the skies opened up and down came a toad choker for around 30 minutes.. long enough for us to carry supplies in the rain. We would have waited but it didn't have that short rain shower look to it and we had stuff for the fridge and freezer.
The sun is supposed to return this afternoon and that should bring the humidity on pretty thick.

Baby Girl asked me to make potato hash with venison.  Whipped up some rump meat into pinky nail sized cubes, warmed the olive oil with minced garlic and onions. Added half the Jalapenos just before browning the meat.  Somehow a splash of Scotch fell in the pan while seasoning (hehe).  Set the meat/onions aside and into the same cast iron skillet went the potatos and veggies.  Final minutes simmer with the meat back in.  Not sure if there will be any left when she gets back from her boyfriend's house.....

Wow!… just wow! Venison hash with Jalapeños!!! I’ll try not to forget that concept… I’m all out of venison, but I’ll experiment with some other meats until fall.

Up and around early this morning. I carried the new toaster oven I picked up yesterday to the Red Shed around 5:30 am and messed around in there for an hour or so while I had coffee. But that is airgun related so I won't elaborate.
I grabbed a pair of wire cutters and headed off into the swamp that is our back fence line The mission was to source a 7' cattle gate that I knew was back there somewhere. I rescued it from the vines and underbrush that was trying to claim it. It's made of light galvanize and in excellent condition. By this time Betty Lou was up and around and joined me outside.
Yesterday while we were in the city I stopped at Lowes and picked up the "L" hooks to hang the gate on the 6x6 wooden archway that leads to our front yard. I drove a steel post in and ran hogwire to finish off the 12' span to the other side of the archway. This now gives us access to the area outside the fenced in area with the wheelers and mower. When that task was finished we drove a few more posts in the fence line where I wasn't happy with the spans between posts we left.
By this time the humidity was nearly unbearable and we took a cool down spell on the front deck with some fresh ice water. Next was to clean up and put tools away. Betty Lou came in the house with the dogs and I headed back to the Red Shed... again, airgun related.
