Took the pups to the pet clinic at Tractor Supply this a.m.  Got their shots and heartworm meds.  Since when is $260 cheap?

Ate two hot dogs with lots of kraut and mustard for lunch.  Key lime donut for dessert.

 Now I'm going to spend the afternoon planting and fencing in the garden.

Made a trip to Ikea; Sonja and I are piecing together kitchen, bath, and storage ideas.  Concrete has been poured, septic started.  We're still a little ways off, but already have a fridge and oven.

I still have a goodly amount of work in our current home, but completed some demanding and tricky drywall work when we got back.  We'll need to use a citrus-based chemical stripper on the fireplace (previous owner did some shady stuff).  I've corrected 99% of the electrical gremlins and hopefully have just some receptacles left.  After that, I get to build a mantlepiece, and she'll be doing some flooring and painting.  Once we're moved, we can tackle the bedroom floor here (including some joist work), and then prep for putting this place on the market.  We have a lot going on, but things are moving slow and steady without much deviation.

I won't even mention yesterday- drywall work, some work on a freebie Yamaha gasser golfcart (traced the problem to a CDI module).  Ordered engine mounts for the F-150, and identified I need an entire front clip (radiator mount) for it.  That's a day's work in itself, but like I said, slow and steady moving forward.

We still found some time to shoot our bows- her asiatic style and my horsebow.  I need to build some more arrows.

I tried to take it easy at work today but there just Ain't no way.

I started the day off by loading six 6 gallon boat gas cans and five 5 gallon safety cans in the back of a pick up truck and heading for the filling station.  Per safety regulations I unloaded them before filling and then reloaded them afterwards.  Remember I've got two messed up shoulders right now.  Back at the park I unloaded them and stacked them in the POL shed.  Then I emptied all the trash cans in the park and hauled the trash bags to the dumpsters.  I monitored the beach for about an hour before being called away check an out parcel park that is a major party site on weekends.  Snuck up very quietly on a group of college aged folks who were imbibing and scared the buzz out of them by appearing right behind them and intoning deeply "Y'all inna heap ah trouble now.  Y'all gonna spend a long time in the pokey!" from behind mirrored aviator shades and a Smokey the bear hat.
Somedays I just love being a park ranger.   I told them I was kidding but that they should keep the hooch out of site (like in a solo cup).  If I don't see booze I don't have to do anything about it..  I'm also careful to stand up wind so I don't have to smell anything I shouldn't.
Still, I do love giving them a little scare to remind them to behave.
Closed out the ranger station.  Made a run to the bank in town with the deposit and got back just in time to clean and mop two bathrooms, close down the beach, empty all the trash cans in the park again, and remove the bimini from one of the boats in a pouring rain.

This is what we refer to as "light duty" in the Florida park service.

Still beats any other job out there!

Well I drove four boat tours back to back because my relief captain didn't come in today or call in.  By two O'clock we had enough staff at work that I could pass the last two tours off to other rangers and go home.  Now the plan is to help the memsahib in the garden and maybe chronograph a couple of guns.

Stapled the tops on the shelf frames.  Straightened up under the covered patio.

This is the last day of my 6 days off.  I'm a little mixed with emotions about it.  I'm ready to get back to a normal routine but I also have so much to do around the house that I want to stay home and keep at it.  I would probably have to take a year off to get caught up 😱😆😎

Got a door bell transformer and LED switch there. Switch is a POS that fell apart and one screw stripped where I had to get a bigger screw to hold the wire. It works but I need to superglue it solid as the button is loose from the base. I'm betting the LED is bright enough to attract bugs and keep them there by the door which I don't like.

I swear those darn lights are designed to attract bugs.

I removed the doorbell and installed a nice solid brass knocker.  It was always funny knowing some folks would spend several minutes looking for a doorbell switch- on more than one occasion I saw people turn around and leave.  The whole scenario was irritating since my neighborhood has numerous signs stating door-to-door sales were illegal, and the "welcome" mat was anything but welcoming.

We use our locked gate to welcome visitors.... they have to call and let us know they are coming. If they don't have the number to call... don't come...   
If they insist... the dogs will let us know.
