What airgun related did you do today?

Unjammed my aea .25 carbine.  Loaded up a magazine with H and N crow magnums.  I enjoyed the nine shots before it jammed again. Accuracy is really quite nice with a red dot and it did not lose zero, in spite of my having to disassemble and reassemble it twice to deal with jams

The problem this particular time is that the pellet probe is so pointy it skewers the pellets.  The pellet was literally impaled on the probe.  The magazines don’t feed all the pellets quite straight and it skewers them at a diagonal, not through the center.

As i like to mention, this is my third AEA gun to not function.  Basically 600 bucks for the first gun and I’ve spent 150 returning them for repairs that didn’t take or replacement. I bought these from Bin Tac - he’s always offered to service them for free but it costs $50 every time I return one for repair and I’ve already spent $150 trying to get one of these to work.


Maybe I can convert this to single shot… The semi auto action seems to be in prototype form..

Aea issues SO FAR:

Broken valve pins
repeated valve seat failure
Leaky fill check valve
Jamming magazines
Skewered pellets
Pellet somehow wedged into the hammer’s path
Weird used semi stripped screws on a new gun
Brutally reamed out crowns
Leaky/ fragile socket for manometer
Stripped flathead screw on fill check valve (online adjustment videos say it should have a hex nut)


I know there’s at least another glitch or two I’m just not remembering them right now.


I have gamo, hatsan, beeman, webley, airforce, evanix and Artemis guns.  All of these together over the past five years have had fewer issues than I encountered in  my first month of owning an AEA gun.

 Made a trip to the Basement and did a bit of plinking, with Twisted Sis and Oxymoron, topped Oxy with a dot sight for the time being, I must of had it on the pistol for initial accuracy test, as I mounted it and it was dead on.  Makes my Sunday easier

 Wonder if there is something going on with the two they seem to be hanging out together shooting slugs down range often

To that I ask... ever use one of these scopes? It ain't nothing about cheek weld. The eye piece actuall becomes part of your face. It's more like "eye weld", if you will. Think about binoculars or a telescope, where's the cheek weld? Ain't none. Matter of fact... I want as little as possible.

Took the liberty out on the front porch and did a quick zero at about 40 yards. I kinda like that Svbony scope. It didn't take many rounds to get it zeroed. I found that in addition to my normal hold if I instead of holding the forearm with my left hand I hold the scope. It sure steadies it up and I can get really Precise hold on the bull.

Got a barrel chopped , crowned and installed. Having trouble coming up with something to quiet it down. That barrel is an odd size compared to what I have around here.
Couple other things slowing my roll.... it's humid as heck out there and Betty Lou just informed me that we are going to the store.

Today's tinkerings....
Lots of squirrel activity lately has me coming my shooting options to come uiip with a short to mid range option. It must remain at the ready, accurate, able to contain projectiles within our boundries because the expected angles of the shots and it needs to be light weight and easy to weild. I also want some of the fun factor.
Air Master Max just might fit the bill. This is my CP1/CP2/PP800 conversion gun.
As it sits, it's LOUD. The barrel is short... not much room to add anything to quiet it down.... I know, I know, I've often said that I like em loud. But if I want to get a shot at critter 2 or 3 I need it to be somewhat quite.
So I think I'm gonna scare up a full length .177 barrel (I know I have a couple around) and cut/crown it just long enough to add something to the end yet maintain compactness.
I'm also going to fit it with the ATN X Sight HD scope (that's where the FUN comes in) for some night shooting on the nocturnal critters and some video.
Here is a mock up before the extended barrel and silencer.

Might need 3# of ballast in the form of a hamster or perhaps battery down low, so you do not tip over
I have run that optic on a few light guns, not too bad as one might think. Prod eg.

If it is  threaded Artemis barrel Buck Rail would have something that fits. I might have a spare around also.

Last night I performed major surgery on a pair of cheap break barrels.  I swapped the .22 barrel from a Crosman Shockwave to the compression tube of a Crosman Fire and stuck it all in a Fire stock.  I mounted a cheap but cheerful Winchester 4X32 AO scope on it and my latest discovery a 250 lumen LED flashlight from Tractor Supply.  The Job Smart brand flash light takes three AAA batteries, will fit inside a 1" scope ring, and it has a handy push button on-off switch on the base of the light.  $19.99 for a package of two and they came with batteries!

This gun has an eleven inch barrel but it will still spit out 15.9gr Norma GTFT at 700 fps for 17.3 fpe and an incredible standard deviation of 1.4.  It stacks pellets at thirty five yards.  It will be my new truck gun.

Milling is going slow for the AEA30 sear.  The Alpha iteration sear looks janky but could work.
I had the drill press at sub 1,000rpm for milling the carbon fiber.  I moved the bands up to the max 3,600rpm and the carbide mill cut cleaner.
If I cared about form over function I would cut a Beta, but I'm only after function.

Broke out the summertime setup for first time this year. 98 degrees and 95%+ humidity already ugh. Forecasting 5 days in a row over 100 degrees starting later this week.

I washed 4 tins of Crosman domed ultra magnum 10.5gr pellets and zeroed my Umarex Browning Buck Mark to 50' using a laser sight with, Rifle domed 8.33 gr pellets.
It's bang on right now.

It's funny I am more accurate free standing then resting the pistol on something. Weird.

I wasn't going to say anything before but, I think you made the right decision. Some folks may have that kind of money laying around for a pistol.. I certainly don't. If I'm going to spend more than $100 on a pistol it ain't gonna be air or C02 powered..
