I sat in a lawn chair and shot off my knee at various targets in the yard. I wrapped that up and straightened up the shop some. Later I pumped up the Streamline and dialed it up on high power. I shot 5 magazines worth of pellets at 60-75 yard targets. I was having great success hitting those targets and groups were tight. I was thinking how easy it would have been to precisely place a pellet on those rabbits that chewed our newly planted blueberry plants down to twigs this past winter.......mmmmmm....... blueberry rabbit stew..

My thoughts exactly! Ha ha!Man, I was so bummed to come out and see that those cute little plants had been taken down to nubs. They are coming back (caged now) but still aren’t as bushy as they were just last year when they were planted. Those little buggers (rabbits) even stripped some of the bark off some fruit trees that we planted. We planted 5 trees, 2 apple, 2 pear and an apricot. The apricot is dying. I’m not sure if it’s the tree, soil or that the bark was stripped off the base of the trunk. Doesn’t really matter now, I’m blaming the rabbits. I value life and I love wildlife in my yard but I’m starting to modify my thinking towards these cute, furry little creatures..... 🎯 😵

We have one now, that the head even turns. This morning shot the 1701P again!
Checked zero on the Streamline and worked POIs from 20 yards out to 50. Watch out wabbits!

There's simply not enough natural predators to control the population of these preys, whom have adapted, through the eons, to survive by multiplying frequently in high numbers. By you attempting to control their numbers, helps to restore some of that balance. Rabbits are some of the best tasting meats! Also, try to find a use for that wonderfully soft pelt.
I went on a “scouting” mission last night around 11 pm. I stepped out the back door and shone a flashlight in the immediate lawn. Guess what I saw? 3 sets of rabbit eyes shining back at me. Farthest set was about 30 yards out. I had the Streamline dialed in and ready to go. I loaded 4 pellets in a magazine, shut the back lights off (for cover from the neighbors, just in case) and I slipped out with SL in hand, cocked and locked. I slid onto the picnic bench and turned the handheld torch on to reveal the location of the objectives. I fumbled around trying to spot the targets in the scope while shining the light. Two of them were alerted enough to relocate while one sat there alert and frozen. I found what I was looking for in the scope while estimating the range (15 yards) and holdover in my head. Being on 20X mag and such a close range there wasn’t going to be much chance of missing unless I succumbed to “buck fever” and lost all of my marbles. I remained clam and popped the shot off rather quickly. The Streamline gave a “SPIT” and immediately afterwards a loud “THWAP”! I knew that I had made contact with something but was it the objective? I scanned with my naked eye and the flashlight but I couldn’t see what I was looking for. Could I have missed? It’s very well possible. I have watched vermin hunting on YouTube and often times the struck victim did some sort of “death dance”. I figured I would see that same sort of thing but it just wasn’t there while I scanned around. I had missed! I walked over to where the objective was and as I came up on the location I noticed something that I had not noticed previously. The green grass texture was interrupted with a spot of fur. Could it be? Yes it was. Instantly DOA when the pellet hit. It was clear that the projectile had A LOT of power as it met it’s purpose. It was a bittersweet victory.

Thanks for the link. Maybe I’ll plan that as my introductory homemade rabbit dish. I have eaten rabbit before but it was prepared by someone else or the restaurant. I’ll be honest, I’m a little apprehensive to clean and prepare my own. Not afraid just uninitiated and unsure. I don’t want to make myself or anyone else sick should I prepare it wrong.
Shot a hole in my wallet, ughhhhhh, these holiday sales.
