Grand-daughter joined in with her new XS-12' so I got out my ebay one, she did VERY well with her new gun.. then came the 2060... She tried that and really like that Lil carbine. (so easy to just load and shoot)
 So while she shot a fresh cart in that I grabbed the XS-60c.

I’ve been gravitating to PCPs lately.  Figured I needed a workout 🏋️‍♀️ in the shooting dept.  tonight was spring gun night.  I grabbed the HWR95.177 and the HW97K.  I had been plagued with some inconsistencies with the 95.  Swapped to a different pellet and problem disappeared.  I guess the inconsistency was the ammo not the gun?  Weird.  After the ammo change it was spot on.  HW97K is ALWAYS spot on.  I love these rifles!

What pellet did you shoot with that was bad and what did you change to?

This is odd Jorgen.  This rifle has always shot the Air Arms 8.4 pellets the best.  For years.  It all of a sudden started throwing pellets out, mostly verticle stringing.  I ended up replacing the piston seal, breech seal and doing a cleanup and reseal. I had tried swapping to a new tin of pellets.  All the pellets were bought at the same time and place (I believe but not 100% sure on that one).  I had also swapped out to a different scope.  Tried everything pretty much with a little improvement but never as reliably accurate as it had been.  I was bummed.  Anyway, I was shooting it last night and making adjustments to the scope to bring it to zero at 25 yards.  I was seeing some good shots but then others being off.  Finally I just bagged the AA 8.4s and threw some Falcons through it.  Wow, what a difference.  All of the pellets started touching and making that well used phrase “one ragged hole”.   I shot those for the rest of the time with that gun. 

So, I went from Air Arms 8.4 to the Falcon 7.3 pellets with good results.

Good you found a better pellet! Are the air arms from the same serie also? If so it could be just that serie that is bad and another works as god as the ones you shot before, if you have some tins left from them you could check the numbers on the serie and ask your supplier if they have any left and get a bunch of them, also check if the size is the same, cause air arms make different headsize for their pellets just like jsb do

Fun day with grandsons but frustrating with my rifles...

Shot two of my pistols--Colt SA revolver and P17. The former is a great lead thrower but not so acutely accurate (like buckshot not rifle precise). The P17 is really a nice pistol. I'm getting better with practice. And, the Beeman 7.2 coated HPs shot wonderfully in both pistols. These lighter grains definitely yield more zip (chrono on the way).

However, the 7.2 coated HPs wrecked havoc on two of my rifles--HW95 and Crosman Venom (both .177). It's almost as if the pellets coated the barrels and rendered them useless. My 95, after two shooting sessions, is back to precision shooting with most pellets (BUT NO MORE BEEMAN 7.2 HPs). My Venom is still shooting poorly. I plan to clean the barrel tomorrow. The Venom is more selective on pellet grains and shapes, but it really didn't like the 7.2 HPs, which is funny because I've shot some RWS 6.9 and 7.0 pellets, along with JSB and H&N 7.0, 7.2, 7.33, 7.48, and 7.87 pellets that shot fairly but not precisely. These newest Beemans shot like flyers. I'm really not sure why, though I suspect FPS to have some impact on it.

Having fun and trying not to want too much more. I figure it's better to want what I've got rather than to want what I don't have.

Out of 3 shots, I missed them both.  I think playing with the clamp-on "velocity meter" may have changed my POI.  Yeah, that's my excuse and I am sticking to it! (sigh)

The Squirrel was the one I have missed so many times I hate to admit it.  The Chipmunk, I got off 2 shots and completely missed on both counts before he scurried out of my kill zone.

Oh well, going to check zero again tonight or tomorrow at 25 yards...

It HAS to be the zero/POI change, RIGHT?   It can't just be ME?!?!?  (grin)

Oh well...  I finally checked my zero for POI...  at night, at 25 yards (that is where the scope is zeroed), under flood lights using the 2 golf balls I use for "quick zero" checks...

Not shot nothing yet but my plan is to run through a few of them that are collecting dust and get them ready for listing on the classifieds. I'm finding less and less enjoyment from shooting pumpers and springers with aches and pains catching up with me. Of course there are those special ones I will keep... and those ones that Betty Lou has laid claim to.
We'll see how that goes.

Wood fence behind my narrow "kill zones" prevents any possibility of ricochet that would be of any danger.   The fence is within one yard of the golf balls.

But, thanks for the warning in any case! (grin)

BTW, you should see all of the embedded pellets in that fence... and I NEVER shoot directly at the fence.

 Spent a few hours shooting with my AT44 .177 pump action. Testing redesigned JSB 13.43 gr Monsters. Used my $20 dollar clamp on crono and also tested my modified Neil Claude Sumatra LDC, I made an adapter that allows it to be used on any 1/2 20 barrel thread.
 I was going to do more pics and video of the New Warrior 12 volt compressor in action , but as luck had it my phone batteries died after I uploaded the Pic I did take.

I don't usually shoot birds, as they are not detrimental to my property... however...

After missing with 3 shots yesterday (2 at a Chipmunk and 1 at the luckiest Squirrel in the world) I was getting jaded, even after I quick checked my zero on the 2 golf balls I leave out at 25 yards which is my zero distance.

Anyway, Grackles and Black birds literally covered my back yard this morning, so...

2 shots, 2 Grackles down with head shots at ~22 yards.  (sorry no pics)


That danged Squirrel is the luckiest Squirrel I have EVER seen! (grin)
