The 880 at dusk, just before real darkness. That's when I consider the scope essential. If there's enough light on the target, everything else can be really dim. I can't shoot any of the open sighted guns in that low a light. Best of all: NO WIND, after a gusty daytime! The gun was shooting great. 10 shots standing at 50' from the tree can, then 5 sitting from 60'. This was with RWS Super Dome 8.3 gr pellets.

Supposed to be less daytime wind tomorrow. I want to shoot the 880 or the P3 with the Terminators. For both guns, it was possibly the best pellet at the very short indoor distance I shot at earlier. Reviews say it excels at much longer distances, too. Looking forward to shooting it more.

Yesterday I shot the P3 a little at a soda can 33' away. The Terminators are very good, indeed. I filled an empty can with water, which it pierced front and back, making neat entry holes with a bigger exit hole. The shot I took at the emptied can next had a different entry hole. It was more like a slash with a small hole in the center; the exit hole was still a larger, rounder "wound."

Need to experiment more with them, and on the 880 as well. For a pellet recommended as suitable for springers at longer distances, it is also darned good in pumpers at short distances. Yet I have not seen many comments on them in such use, other than one reviewer who raved that his P17 loved them.

I've been doing some shooting with my Daisy 499 since it's been so terribly windy outside the past couple of days.

Lately I have been having issues with BB's not really wanting to roll properly all the way down the barrel and often not getting that click I should hear.
I have always cocked the lever before loading as suggested in the manual ,and I remember Tom Gaylord reporting that he always got better accuracy this way.
Well for me cocking the lever after draws the bb all the way down the bore and I get that click I should expect every time.
I decided to do some testing and this has not decreased my accuracy in any way, but it has solved all of my issues with loading so from now on I will be dropping a BB down the muzzle before cocking the lever to draw it down.

Before this I thought about making myself a special custom wood ramrod, but it's just not necessary now.
Boy I wish this gun were some kind of trap loader or something.

Had the P-Force Tact out for awhile. I am amazed at how non pellet picky this gun is. The was a tin of CPUM 14.3 on the bench and it was just flat stacking them on everything in my 45yd range. I turned the power wheel down to the first hash and got a boatload of shots.
What's not to like about this gun?

If the rain holds out, which I think it’s predicted to stay dry, I would like to shoot at least one air rifle. I’m really gravitating towards a jumper, most likely the .22 cal HW77K. Springers still hold my heart over the PCPs.

I always am curious: What is it about springers that you prefer over PCPs? I can think of one reason that appeals to me (self-contained).

I know you didn't pose this question to me, but I'll butt in anyway with my own opinion. Springers have a more visceral feel when they're fired, and they have a self-contained powerplant that doesn't require prior and recurring filling with pressurized air and loading of mags. They "feel" more like shooting a powder burner.

Goes back to the middle 40's when I received a Daisy model 25 and before long went to pb, however in the 80's my interest returned to air guns and springers were and at the top of my favorite, Also love the other systems. Just a problem I can't resist! Charles

I did get the NOTOS out and it didn't take long to realized that the Avenger and the P-Force had spoiled me with the modified triggers and the high shot counts. So I took it back to the bench for a bit of massaging. I took the grub screw out of the trigger and worked it over with 3 die stones I have here. I put a dab of SS Grease on the tip and put it back in and adjusted it until the gun fired then backed it out a quarter tune and made sure the safety worked.
Took it back to the bench and tethered it to my 30 minute scba tank that had 3500 psi in it. I spent the next 2 hours loading mags and shooting.
Good stuff.

I picked up the C2100 this morning and Belle started spinning widershins. Pavlovian response to dad picking up an air gun.

So I had to take her for a walk. We hiked around my permission with me waving the 2100 in front of me to knock down spider webs. I can only pump the gun about five times right now but it’s still wicked accurate at 25 yards!

Beeman .22-caliber PCP bullpup. 40 good shots with a 3500 PSI fill, and still some pressure left in the air reservoir.

Took a barely-used B25H out of the closet and promptly broke the scope stop off within 10 shots. Tightened all the screws and the scope is still sliding backwards. I'll sleep on it and decide what to do tomorrow. Right now, I'm thinking that I'll take the scope off and, if I can find one in my multiple parts bins, put a Hatsan scope stop on the rails. I'm also considering just putting the original scope stop back on using J.B. Weld.

I went with the J.B. Weld option. I'll let it cure overnight, remount the scope, and see what happens...

It’s what I started out shooting in airguns as an adult. When I rediscovered shooting them it filled what I wanted to do at a time that I needed it. It’s simple and affordable (that first Gamo springer). It was a challenge and relaxing. It held my interest and there was a BIG world of airguns to discover along the way. It was also something that reminded me of being a kid with my first BB gun at 7 and also as a teen shooting in the neighborhood with my buddies.
At the time (2007) I loved shooting but we had young kids and I always felt guilty leaving my wife and them behind to go shoot. Airguns allowed me to still enjoy shooting but in the convenience of my own yard with my family present. Airguns are how I taught my kids to handle guns and shoot. Most of the eight still enjoy shooting and some pursue shooting as an activity on their own.

I also like the process of cock, load, shoot, cock, load, shoot…. That process slows my body and my mind down. I like the jump and challenge of shooting springers consistently. I also like the single cocking action and the reasonable power that a springer makes. If I could choose only one airgun with any power plant, it would most likely be a spring gun in .177.

Don't get me wrong, I like all airgun methods of compressing air and shooting a projectile at a target but my preferred way is with the spring.
