.22 d460d with apollo magnums and a 30mm hawke red dot. Love this setup. The 460 is so balanced, way better balanced than with a scope.

Shot the odd 20 PC NOE19.4 casts through the Notos to take the air down from 2,000psi to 1,000psi.
Surprisingly accurate off the regulator hitting spinners in the BY range.
Degassed and removing parts to port the last restriction out to 4 or 4.5mm

Shot a Mendoza RM377 that I put the torsion trigger spring back in for another member. After confirming that it is functioning properly I packed it up, took it to the PO and shot it back to him.

It looked so pretty outside, I just went out turned around and headed back in. It was 99° in my garage. I looked at the local weather app and it's showing heat index 108°. All I know is it's too uncomfortable to stay outside.

It looked so pretty outside, I just went out turned around and headed back in. It was 99° in my garage. I looked at the local weather app and it's showing heat index 108°. All I know is it's too uncomfortable to stay outside.

You got that right... It was 85 here before 9am. I knew I had a gun to shoot to confirm a repair so I went to the casting shack and cranked the a/c on high. I let it chill for an hour or so then went out and shot out the door with the a/c still on. It stayed pretty cool in that small building... until it didn't. I did manage to get 25 or 30 shots off before I shut it all down and came in.

I walked around the pasture this a.m. without the dogs since I have been seeing a lot of rabbits lately.  No bunnies but I did nail a crawfish mound at about forty yards off hand when I emptied the C362 at the end of my walk.  It really surprised me because I was pretty shaky and had trouble holding the reticle on the target.  Just dumb luck.  No chance of that happening if I was aiming at a rabbit.

Most of today was so hot that stepping outdoors felt like opening an oven door in full roasting mode.

As the sun dropped down, I squeezed in a quick rifle session. Blue Streak, 2 shots at a snag at least 90’ away (4 pumps), a deadfallen log about 60’ away, and a can at a measured 50’ away. All shots hit the target.

There was just enough light left to grab the 880 for similar practice:  3 shots at the same snag (9 pumps, 10 pumps, 8 pumps), and 2 shots at the same can (6 pumps). The first can shot missed (?!), so I increased scope mag from 2x to 3x, which worked.

Only 10 shots total, with some shooting upward and some shooting downward, so it was worthwhile practice.

Hoping to do a pistol practice tomorrow, weather allowing.

Another member sent me the action out of his Mendoza RM377. He was going to do some trigger work and couldn't get that torsion spring back in.. they are a bear if you haven't done a few of them.
Once I got it back in I put his action in the stock of one of the 2 I have to shoot it and test it out. I have scopes on my 2 but shooting his has me wanting to take the scopes off and shoot them with the open sights. I had put lighter torsion springs in mine and the triggers are a bit lighter but I didn't have one on hand to put in his. Even so, it wasn't all that bad.
These are great 10 - 20 yard plinkers. They have some of the most solid lock ups as I've seen in alot of break barrel guns. The sears also set solid.
Betty Lou and I used to shoot these alot together but then we got our hands on some metal/metal Daisy pumpers and got hooked on those for awhile. After that I went to the "darkside" and fell down that rabbit hole. Lately I have been shooting some of these nearly forgotten gems.

Open sights, side-cocker.
A sweet little plinker..at around 500fps with 7.9CPH
It reminds me of why I (we) started shooting air rifles to begin with..
I think this will be my new truck gun and ride in the cargo box under the back seat of the Silverado.

I should have picked one of those up back in the day when they were to be had.  Or the 61.  Someday maybe?

I just finished a nice pistol practice with the P3. Mini soda can in pellet trap at 33+’ from the muzzle, offhand standing as has been my default for a while.

To compensate slightly for RH shooting bias because that’s all I can do with the rifles, I started with LH this time (fresher). Hit center area of the can 8/10 times. Then switched to the RH and hit 9/10 times.

I was happy for now and decided to shoot 10 more on a steel can placed just below the hanging minican. Only hit it 3/5 times on each side.

Grabbed 5 more pellets to experiment with distances shooting that gun. I shot 60’ away from a dead tree and moved each shot farther away, ending up at 90’. I just wanted to hear the twack of it hitting the tree, which happened every time. These were all done LH for more practice on that side. The sound of the pistol firing sounds remarkably identical shot after shot even though the TWACK is louder at 60’ than 90’.

I sure like that sound; it is so crisp and snappy.

 Discovered the Maple mags are slightly taller than the CARM, so the Notos got the new Maple Mag set, and Chaser got the CARMs, as the Maple did not clear the flip up scope cap on my Chaser setup. They did fit with cap off  LOL

Walked the dogs and carried the Crosman 2200.  I plinked some pinecones and floating leafs. As always a relaxing half hour.
