Finally!" This rat has been eating my tomatoes in the garden and even with the dinger setup I was unable to ever get a clear shot on him. Resorted to setting a trap. The good news is when I went out to check it this little tomato eating varmit was dragging it around!

Well oaky doaky, whip out the antique Benjamin Franklin pump up pistol and assassinated him with a shot to the head.

no activity as of late so set up a second bait station early last week, this one off the West side of the house with a nice 2nd story winder to shoot from overlooking our driveway. This is the area where we have seen the critter most int eh past so thought I'd see if they still frequent. Just over a week only visitor to the bait station is neighbors cat. As mentioned previously, he gets free pass, make little noise and he scrurries off, leaves the bait alone for couple nights.
Did stumble upon 5 skunks other night coming onto the property, 2 adults and 3 half size... dreading the possibility they may partake of the bait station.
Don't imagine there is any sort of bait that Raccoons and Opossums like that will repel skunks?....

Well. Sad story. I got my night vision gear all setup and I have hunted this rat(that doesn't come out until I go to bed) and finally, finally, I get my chance. I had just called it a day and was sliding between the sheets when the Wife comes in and said the dinger went off. Instantly awake!! Tippy toe out to the man cave and fire up the Pulsar N550 and sure enough I catch a glimpse of him. Reach over and turn on the mini DVR plugged into my scope and wait for the dinger to go off again. Here he comes, I hit the record button on the DVR, fire up the power on the scope, get it settled, watch him sneaking around headed toward the bait, get him in the cross hairs and............ THE FLIPPING BATTERY GOES DEAD ON THE SCOPE!
Pitch black, nothing, dinger running down the battery. So I try to dump the batteries out and replace them, just as the dinger is going off again and I got them in and pointed the gun, switched it on and nothing! I had put the batteries in wrong.

Ordered me a 20 hour battery pack....

Different story tonight!! I nailed him at 15 yards in the dark. Can't figure out how to get the video out of this cheap Chinese DVR though. I can watch it on the device but cant download it......

The only thing that gal will let ya shoot are coyotes. That's only because they kill her chickens. She has been trying to dust the rats with Seven dust to kill fleas and ticks. I used to call her a crazy cat lady 'cause she has a bunch of cats. Now I call her the crazy rat lady because she really must be crazy to put up with rats. The cats are mostly inside cats so they can't get the rats. Occasionally an owl swoops in and nails one or two. I think I'd have to plant a few IED's if I had a rat population like that.
