I always thought linseed oil was the way to go on bare wood.

They both have been used as a poly finish but the linseed is harder, and more yellow IMO.

My replacement arrived today. 

This one weighs in at 43.9oz.  About 5oz more than the first, but still has savings of 6oz over the beech.  Wood stocks vary in weight.

This one, doesn't seem have any of the "free" small dings.  More uniform than the first, but still some blotchiness in finish in areas. 

This still has the pinching at the front edge of foregrip, with air tube.  I plan to keep this one and go through the refinishing process, so will find a way to correct that, too.

Also, the front sling stud is still angled, and assume that is just a feature.

I snagged one off Amazon for $422. I expect a marauder 3.0 soon at that price. Probably one with a side lever.

Finish is a bit rough as others have mentioned. A sanding and truoil should fix that.
It’s not easy to see in the photos, but it has a beautiful tiger striped grain. She’s going to look great one I’m finished.
