I donned my Carhart coveralls and Realtree hoodie and boonie hat and took a slow stroll on the trail through the woods to the barn and back. I stopped several times along the way just being still and quite and taking in all the woods. I sat on a log at one point. It was cold and crisp and the sun began melting the frost off the remaining tree leaves letting it drip to the ground. I didn't see any signs of life. I was quite peaceful. I think I'll do it again tomorrow morning and take a Yeti cup of coffee with me.
Afternoon Y'all! I been up since sunup but the memsahib has had me hard at work outside. I cut down three young, salt pruned, live oaks that were pretty stunted. I had to remove a big clump of sparkleberry that I rather liked but now we have two circular driveways. One on each side of the house. We repaired the split rail fence where my brother hit it and we repaired the dry stone wall at the culvert where my stepfather hit it. Neither one of those guys should be driving. The memsahib is on a tear today. Prozac and caffeine. Bad combination in my opinion. As soon as she gets preoccupied with her planting or pruning I mean to slide out the back door and head for the woods. The dogs are in it with me. If we can make it to the treeline we're golden!
Well, yesterday I ended up coming down with something by the end of the day. I have a stuffed up nose, my ears feel plugged, headache, sore throat, fever and a general cruddy feeling of weakness. I got up at 6:00 AM and put the trash out to the road. Now I don't really want to do much of anything else today. I am sure I will piddle around and put the last 21 airguns away that I left out. I did put most away and the new was of organizing them I think will be a lot better. Also since I am here by myself if I want to eat I will have to do the food prep too. My wife did leave some meals frozen for me though. I also have lean Burgers and Nathan's Hot dogs.
Morning...I also woke up at around 3:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. I got up to avoid disturbing BL with my tossing and turning. At 4:15 Rambo insisted it was time to eat. He and Boss ate and went outside.BTW, he has done much better with the steps yesterday and this morning. Yesterday we let him out down the ramp and he chose to come back in via the steps. It's only 3 steps and as long as he don't get distracted and stop on step 2 he's good to go. If he stops he has to back down and try again. The old boy has heart, that's for sure. As long as he continues to show desire to improve we'll see how he does. He has good apatite and his digestive system is working as normal. He'll walk about half the property perimeter with us then he'll sit and watch us until we get back around to him before he rejoins the walk to the house. We don't have to encourage him to go out and do his business, he'll let us know when he needs to. All in all, he's making it very difficult for us to make a decision.
War Rambo! Glad to hear he's having better times again. Bill is there a way to set him on the 4 wheeler rack on a folded blanket or on a small trailer behind it to ride along since he can't walk out there anymore? If so he'd be with the pack enjoying the sights instead of being sad in the yard waiting on yall to get back. Good luck on the rapids Sam. You never know a cold dunk could really make you feel pumped afterward. Does for some people but for others it just makes them sick afterward.
It is that time of year and Winter has arrived.I will be getting my Snow Tires put on today.Best Wishes - Tom
What are these "snow tires" you speak of?
