Bill, I was one of the Lucky ones to meet Rambo. And he only got snippy a bit on getting outta bed that one morning.
I think he forgot I was there. 
My heart goes out to you and Betty Lou. I still get tears when I think of Storm. Our Red Siberian Husky.
Give Rambo a hug for me please. He was very nice to me even after all your warnings!

Deciding when was the hardest part.  We had a very nice service come to the house for Jasmine.  While we were talking with the vet that was performing the service, he reassured us that’s it’s better to be a week early than a day too late.  We knew it was time.  She had good days and bad days but everyday was a steady decline.  It was very peaceful for her and us.  I’d definitely recommend them for anyone in that situation with their beloved pet.

Bill, get some Doc Roy's. It's good for the joints on a dog. All of mine get 1 once a day and I can see the difference. Even our 12 year old Shepard moves much better. I know it's hard to loose a fur baby but we're kinder to them than we are to our elderly.

Thanks Robert. Unfortunately it's not just mobility issues with Rambo. He's also having respiratory issues as well and quivers in his legs. We took him to the vet when all this began. He was clear of heart worm and anything treatable.

Bill, there is a respiratory illness going around that is taking dogs out left and right. Not panic you or anybody else but it's something to take notice.

Yes, I'm aware of this affliction. Rambo's issues began well before this disease went mainstream. It's also a communicated disease. Rambo and Boss have not been exposed to any other dogs in a couple years. Although anything is possible, it's highly unlikely this is his issue.

Flytrap is fifteen.  She's been having trouble getting up and walking for over a year.  She has good days and bad days.  The bad days are always preceded by a good day where she over does it.  Right now she wants to chase the tennis ball with the puppy.  We had to learn to keep her from going as hard as she wants to.  It takes longer for her to recover when she does over do it.  She can't get up on the couch anymore but there are several dog beds on the floor.  She spends her time in the garden with the memsahib or lying next to her chair.  She still seems to be enjoying life and she can stay here until she isn't.

The vet did check his heart? There's a great daine that I pet sit and she does the same thing and is in heart failure. Not much you can do for them. The meds will give them a few more months.

Betty Lou and I went out with the dogs for a walk about as we do a couple times a day. "Walk about" is a phrase they are used to and know what it means. Rambo seemed a bit frisky going down the ramp and was acting like he wanted to jump up on me like he used to. Of course I wouldn't let him. That's another sad thing, he still has the "want to" he just can't.

Well, I guess I must of got a lot done cause I sure walked a long ways. My Fitbit says I walked over 6 miles which is 14240 steps. I've still got a whole bunch more branches to move to the burn pit but luckily I won't be doing anymore until next week as we're suppose to be getting rain and there's no way I'm going down to the meadow after it rains. Plus I have to do some pet sitting this weekend starting 0830 Friday morning.

Good morning GTA! Happy Wednesday!!! It’s Hump-Day, and today is the day my C362 Anniversary is coming home! I got up at 0400 and I’m finishing up my second cup o’Joe. I have my 0600 meeting and then a walk-in cooler/freezer service call, right here in my home town. My home deliveries are always the last stop, even my mail comes late. So, despite my anticipation, I’ll have to wait until the day is done the check out my new rifle. 😁

The vet put Rambo's age around a year and a half when we first rescued him. That would make him closer to 12 years old now.

Well, yesterday I ended up coming down with something by the end of the day. I have a stuffed up nose, my ears feel plugged, headache, sore throat, fever and a general cruddy feeling of weakness. I got up at 6:00 AM and put the trash out to the road. Now I don't really want to do much of anything else today. I am sure I will piddle around and put the last 21 airguns away that I left out. I did put most away and the new was of organizing them I think will be a lot better.


 Also since I am here by myself if I want to eat I will have to do the food prep too. My wife did leave some meals frozen for me though. I also have lean Burgers and Nathan's Hot dogs.

I've got to go in and get another 1000 gallons of water. It's suppose to start raining this afternoon and while it probably won't mess up the road I don't want to take a chance it will. Kinda hard to pull a 11k lb trailer up it when it's muddy.

Good morning, thawing out from last night's freeze, some frost on the ground this morning. I cooked squirrel yesterday and will get the meat off the bone today, take the leftover pot liquor and make rice with it, also cooked a pot full of mustard greens as well. All of it will be put together to make a meal and freeze it. I do this to keep the cooking and dish cleaning to a minimum. Just pop the meal in the microwave and eat. Not much else to do without having to bundle up to go outside until it warms up a little.

I donned my Carhart coveralls and Realtree hoodie and boonie hat and took a slow stroll on the trail through the woods to the barn and back. I stopped several times along the way just being still and quite and taking in all the woods. I sat on a log at one point. It was cold and crisp and the sun began melting the frost off the remaining tree leaves letting it drip to the ground. I didn't see any signs of life. I was quite peaceful. I think I'll do it again tomorrow morning and take a Yeti cup of coffee with me.

Bill right on I make sure to take a little time out of the day for that in the woods as well. Right now with all the leaves on the ground it's amazing how loud such small critters can be like lizards ect.

Afternoon Y'all!  I been up since sunup but the memsahib has had me hard at work outside.  I cut down three young, salt pruned, live oaks that were pretty stunted.  I had to remove a big clump of sparkleberry that I rather liked but now we have two circular driveways.  One on each side of the house.  We repaired the split rail fence where my brother hit it and we repaired the dry stone wall at the culvert where my stepfather hit it.  Neither one of those guys should be driving.

The memsahib is on a tear today. Prozac and caffeine.  Bad combination in my opinion.  As soon as she gets preoccupied with her planting or pruning I mean to slide out the back door and head for the woods.  The dogs are in it with me.  If we can make it to the treeline we're golden!
