We used to collect Morels up in the Sierras about this time of year.  They are awesome just sautéed in butter.

Blew over $1300k on car repairs today(strut install, wheel bearing install, camber adjustment kit install and alignment). Ordered parts for more repairs next week(rotors & caliper rebuild kits). I already have the new pads and fluid. The car drives great now in the mean time so they did a good job! Those old struts and bearings were shot. Mowed the yard and almost got the mower stuck in a hole then the caster wheel dug a lot of soil out when I backed up so I had to shovel and pack it back in.

 I went to our house in town and found a large family crew there and they already had put all the trash in the dump trail.

 I just hung out for a while and then came back home and did more yardwork.

First day of my sentence.  I’m doing 120 days for bad behavior.

Back at work on light duty for four months AKA stuck in the ranger station all summer.

It was non stop from the minute I walked in. I did about $1,400 in entrance fees myself.  We probably cleared two grand at the gate today and school hasn’t even let out yet.

That's 100 entrants per minute at one gate! Even when cars were backed up onto the state highway outside a busy park I worked one summer, I don't think they took in that many at the main gate. Combined with the other vehicle entry plus illegal entries elsewhere, maybe.

They did keep tally of incoming powerboats and when capacity was reached, they turned those away strictly because of parking space. But there was no number set for other users.

I can't really imagine that sort of crowding but I know thatI couldnt cope with it .   I go to our local river and i am the only boat quite often . I go to our marina and often i am the only boat moving. Our village is so quiet and peaceful and traffic just about non existant  .  I walk back through the village from the fields carrying my air rifle and nobody worries . Sometimes Mac escapes and goes visiting. The neighbours bring him home.
And the trees, magnificent trees.

We're Baaackkk.
Last Wednesday Betty Lou and I rented a car and headed North. Her mamma passed last Fall and the family had a memorial for her this past weekend just outside Columbus, Ohio.
We boarded Boss at the Vet and had them give her the once over while she was there. Got her nails clipped and she is on antibiotics for eye and eye infections. So we had to pick her up when we got back today. She was so happy to see us she peed on the Vet floor... she never pees on the floor.
I drove the rental car home, unloaded it then picker her up and brought her home. Then I took the rental back to Montgomery, turned it in and got my truck out of LT parking. The truck gets 10 mpg and the rental got 42 mpg.  No brainer. Round trip was 1300 miles and I'm saddle sore.
A day or so in recovery and we be back up to par. Road trips used to be fun. Not so much anymore. We ran into major city rush hours 4 times. Taxing to say the least.

The rental was supposed to be a mid size SUV.. that turned into a 2025 Nissan Versa. I will never own one. It was like a seat and a steering wheel on a skate board.

Bill.  I compare driving my wife’s 50 mpg micro compact to being drug down the road in a wash tub. 

Pat.  Ichetucknee is in a class by itself.  It’s a crystal clear spring fed stream perfect for tubing and only a few miles from a huge university.  In the summer time it’s a three ring circus complete with clowns.

I had to sit in a small concrete building today and be nice to people.

Still beats working for a living.

Among other things I Installed the new mower caster wheel parts I got the other day. What a PITA getting the shaft sleeve into the caster fork but I got it done. No more wheel squeaks now.

This is why I rented a mini van. The only thing I hated about it was it would turn off stopped at a light. That drove me crazy, nobody bothered to tell me where to turn that off. To many gadget distractions as well, who needs to text when you got all this going on. I told the rental guy to disable all AI garbage on it or I was not driving it. I don't need something telling me how to drive because it wouldn't be able to handle the way I drive and I didn't need it complaining while I was driving.

 The turn off at stop is annoying to me too! My wife's Honda CRV does that. It has a button to shut the "feature" off but has to be shut off each time the car is started. I wish there was a way to just disable it once and permanently!

 I enjoy the lane assist on the freeways and the adaptive cruise in stop and go traffic. If traffic is flowing the adaptive cruise can be annoying too because if you aren't thinking about it, it will slow you down before you can change lanes to pass slower traffic.

FL did well to prohibit disposable water bottles from being carried on the Crystal River. I don't remember if the other rivers nearby had the same rule, but they were remarkably trash-free.

Clowns and jokers in tubes, probably like the ones I saw daily in summer on Clear Creek in downtown Golden. Inevitably holding open beer cans, often with both can and idjit ejected going down some drops. I think tubing has since been banned there (GOOD).

Auto start-stop can be disabled in Ford trucks by driving in Tow-Haul mode. That mode works just fine for normal driving and better in mountainous terrain.
