Bill I've had many moments like that on the back patio. Almost sounds like rapids washing onto a ocean beach. I also enjoy watching and listening to the happy mocking bird boldly perched in the top of the tree in the middle of my yard for all birds to see that's his yard and he defies anyone to tell him otherwise. Such a happy sounding critter bragging to any ladies nearby all the bird calls he knows to shoot out.

Making arrangements for a trip to Ohio the first part of the month. We plan to board Boss and rent a car.
I've already got the car reserved and Boss has to be up on all of her shots to be boarded so I made an appointment to have that done on Monday.
My DL is due to be renewed in May so I need to check into that as well.

Going to a cabin in the woods don't sound bad to me. I'd consider finding a pet sitter or other boarder because those shots have killed and injured pets like people that got em too. Vets have highest suicide rate from seeing all the damage those shots have done. Whether it's a 5lb dog or 200lb dog they get the same shot. Just looking out for boss Bill. Rambo is already loss enough.

The vet is also going to give Boss a long overdue once over while she is there. Trim her nails and clean her ears. This is the vet that Killer always took Boss to and they have all her records. When I made the appointment yesterday they transferred all her records into my name. Boss is a registered full blooded American Bulldog.
All dogs boarded must be up to date within 2 weeks prior to boarding. Her appointment is for Monday and she won't be boarded for at least 2 weeks, if not more. So we will have plenty of time to have "eyes on" her to observe any adverse reactions.
All her shots and the checkup is $94 and boarding is $20 a night.

I went to the Worm Grunting festival today and did five hours of interpretation about the Naval Stores Industry (AKA the turpentine business.).  I talked to a mess of people and met some new friends.  Belle came with me and she was quite the Belle of the ball.

I have a small 3x5 folding table that I wanted to use as a ramp for Boss to walk up to get in the truck on the floor in behind the front seat. I took her out for a trial run and before I could get the ramp set up she climbed right up in just like she used to. I guess she ain't as worn out as I thought she was.
I had to take her for a ride down the road and back before she would come back out.
Again, she hopped right out without the ramp.
I reckon she's good to go.

 I went to the pharmacy and picked up a couple prescriptions. When I came home there was a California Red Coachwhip snake by my front door. I love having these good snakes around since coachwhips are happy to eat anything they can catch, and that includes rattlesnakes. 

 When I approached the front door the cat was inside watching the snake through the screen door. My wife decided to pick it up to keep it from going after the snake and the cat freaked out and tore her left hand up.    I am fairly certain that was the cats first time seeing a snake and she was really focused on it until my wife picked her up. Ouch!

Bill keep a good eye on her. Most that die do so within a few months afterward. A guy I know had his vet insist on giving his dog the shot but he told the vet not to. He took the dog in the back and gave it the shot. Now poor dog is fubar long term but still living. Any time a vet insists taking your dog to the back you insist on going back there with your dog to know exactly what's going on. A woman I saw lost her two dogs 3 months after getting them the shot so she's done with that and has not had her new dog get it.

Didn't do much today since I was passing a small stone but I did so then afterward cleaned out my chainsaw and lost a E ring while replacing the sprocket that shot out of the pliers so had to buy several at the store in case I lose one again so I'll have what I need in my shop. I'll do some minor cutting with it in a bit now that I finally have it running well again after also having to replace the tensioner which I had in the shop.

 I have held one but it was injured and incapacitated by the garden bird net it was caught in when I found it. I was able to grab it right behind it's head and hold it securely while my wife carefully cut it free. When I released it it took it's time moving on. I hope it survived the trauma, the netting had cut it skin in one place.

 The others I have seen moved way too fast for me to catch them even if I tried.

 I knew a guy who was murdered later on, that told me he caught a Hummingbird once and said their beaks are razor sharp and they will tear your hand up before you can let go too. So, add Hummingbirds to the list of things not to hold, LOL.

Rode the atv down to the barn and watched the power company put in a new pole. Our place feeds off of that pole and our power was off for a couple hours. They asked if I wanted the old pole so I had them lay it out of the way by the barn. I had to sign for it and take responsibility in case someone gets injured from it. I guess some atv rider hit one and they got sued. So now you have to sign for them if you want to keep them.
It's a 40 footer so we'll find some use for it eventually. I mean who can't find a use for a 40' treated utility pole?

Took Boss for her shots this afternoon. I helped her get up in the truck but when we got there she wasn't gonna get out.
They came out to the truck and gave her the shots. One in each hip, one between the shoulders and one by mouth. They had to muzzle her because she was going to eat someone.
When we go home I just pulled the truck inside the gate and opened the back door. She jumped right out and went straight to her bed.
