Most people can't tell left from right. If you yell "look to your left" half the folks in any group will be looking to the right. The rest will be looking up, down, or at their phone. Hemispherical confusion. I drove a boat tour today where we were absolutely surrounded by wildlife. Beaucoup Manatee, Cocodrillo, Anhinga, Cormorant, you name it. The utterly clueless crew I took out at 1300 was looking everywhere but where the critters were. With two manatee practically under the chines I got kinda short with some oblivious passengers. "Your other left" I almost snarled at them. Since they don't understand English I tried nautical speech, "Manatee off de pawt quatah! Manatee off de pawt bow!" Blank looks.Do any of y'all know left from right? How about port and starboard? The memsahib has no concept of North, South, East, or West. It's a form of Dyslexia. She cannot read a map. I'm starting to wonder if a significant proportion of the American people cannot tell directions.

It crosses all language barriers too.

For you landlubbers that's the extreme right rear corner of the boat. All the passengers sit in front of me and face forward. No one is paying any attention to my gestures. For what it's worth the modern generation can't tell time either. The clockface positions mean nothing to most people. If I tell folks that something is at 3 O'Clock or 9 O'Clock watch the confusion on their faces!

I don't think a lack of map skills is anything new. Isn't there an old army saying "the most dangerous thing in the world is a 2nd lieutenant with a map and compass" ?

Isn't there an old army saying "the most dangerous thing in the world is a 2nd lieutenant with a map and compass" ?Butter balls killed almost more soldiers than the enemy.😡 I'd never heard it called a lensic compuse but knew how to use one. You notice I said knew as in past tense.
Brett how bad's the damage? Had that happen once and it flowed through the walls into some other rooms staining the carpet but thankfully the walls dried ok after using big fans.
