The HD is more than likely the reason it was locking up.

 I get it Bill, it took a lot of searching for tweaks, fiddling to get Windows 11 to be "acceptable" for me. AND I still like Windows 10 better. My oldest laptop (Lenovo 14" Ideapad) I still use works great now with the newly cloned SSD 1 GB drive I upgraded from the 256 GB it came with. I upgraded the RAM about a year ago, so it's all good now. The password box comes up in 15 seconds and boots to Windows 10 in about 30 seconds including my background apps.
That is quick enough for me

 I get it Bill, it took a lot of searching for tweaks, fiddling to get Windows 11 to be "acceptable" for me. AND I still like Windows 10 better. After the 2nd time the tech came out and the 2nd time Maintenance came out. it is fixed!
 The wire from the main pole to the house was damaged at the service loop on middle pole. The Electric company recently worked on that pole and it is likely they damaged the cable line.

There is no lag now, it is really snappy fast now!

Continuing to give Win 11 a fair shake. I suppose it's like anything else for a guy that don't care too much for change.
This new laptop came with a free year subscription to Microsoft 365 and added 1 TB to my OneDrive storage. I already had 100 gb that I pay $1.99 a month for.
With all the tablets, cell phones and PCs set to send all saved items to OneDrive it's handy to share/move files with all of them. The cell phones and tablets are set to automatically send all pictures taken to OneDrive. It's also handy to have access to things I want to print. The printer is connected to the office desktop PC in the bar. I suppose I could connect it to the network but I would still need to go fetch printed items from it. I would also need to leave the printer turned on all the time/
Took me a bit to figure out how to disable the S Mode so I could install non Microsoft software and apps. That seems like a monopoly to me. I think Google just got in trouble for that. Wonder if Microsoft will be next?
The new Outlook let me add all of my email accounts so I can access, send and receive mail from all accounts without logging in and out of each separately. (MSN, Outlook and G-Mail).
Edge seems to suit my browsing needs without needing to install Brave or FireFox.

 I never used any cloud storage until a couple weeks ago. I finally turned it on for my PC's but haven't linked my phone yet. The first time I tried to rely on OneDrive, my internet connection let me down. I am not sure if it was the damaged cable, the solar storm, or the wireless receiver on the particular laptop that caused that problem with OneDrive.

11 links OneDrive to my file explorer. It automatically brings up the contents of my OneDrive storage as if it's an extension of the hard drive. For example, music or video files will play directly on the Media Player. Office files will load directly from OneDrive. Basically it's a 1TB hard drive.

 Yes, it is automatic if a person doesn't disable it first thing like I had done. I don't like change either, and I just wanted to keep all my files local and only backup files of my choice each time. I was creating some confusion for myself with having differing edited versions of files of the same name on different computers though. OneDrive will help with that issue.

 I am sure you know if the file is not saved on the device and you loose internet you won't have access on that device until internet is restored though. For me it will be a little easier to share my files between my Desktop and 3 Laptop computers. BUT, I already learned the hard way to open the file AND save it on the device/laptop I am going to use for presentation and not count on my internet connection being there when I need it.
 I tested it at 7:00 AM, my Power Point file opened at the Church building fine and then when I went to use it for the projector later with my sermon it would not open. Fortunately it was just a slideshow of Maps that was to accompany my sermon and not my sermon outline.

It's my day off and I got up this a.m. expecting to make myself breakfast.  Uh oh, no eggs.  Well I grumped at the memsahib and she grumped right back.  Then the Iron Maiden arrived and she took her mother's side.  Feeling out-numbered by the distaff element I made hasty hoofbeats to the truck.  I keep the truck well stocked with iron rations and essentials so I made sure I had plenty of pellets, stopped at the Suwannee Swifty for some gas and RC Cola, and headed for the woods!

I got out to the squirrel woods early and just sat on my little camp stool and watched the forest wake up.  I saw four different squirrels within 20 minutes that would have been easy shots but opening day is still a few weeks away.  About mid morning I drove up through the national forest to Hooterville and hit the Wallymart for some eggs, new bands for some slingshots, and a couple of tins of pellets.

Back at the shack now waiting for cocktail hour.

Ain't bad enough you provide $ for them you also have to buy your own eggs after getting clucked by hens too. Should've bought yourself a breakfast sammich since gas stations usually sell em. At least you had a good morning after getting away from the hens. Being in nature sure helps calm a ticked dude off.


With all you pc gurus maybe one can help me remember on Win10 how to disable open file confirmation on the desktop so I can open a picture by just clicking on it.

Nah it ain't their fault.  I apologized for being grumpy when I got home.  The memsahib knows I'm poor company first thing in the morning.  That's why she wouldn't take any &^^& from me.

Cut a stump down and hauled away the pieces with the tractor loader. Bought another new mower battery for my other mower then cleaned and spray protected the old metal so it won't rust after acid from the old battery took off the paint then I installed the new battery. Resting the complaining back.

Finished installing my granite curb, backfilling, compacting.  Next we'll use leftover granite to make a couple benches.  That'll be a tough bit of work for this senior.  One nice thing about granite benches is you don't have to worry about them getting stolen.

Most people can't tell left from right.  If you yell "look to your left" half the folks in any group will be looking to the right.  The rest will be looking up, down, or at their phone.  Hemispherical confusion.

I drove a boat tour today where we were absolutely surrounded by wildlife.  Beaucoup Manatee, Cocodrillo, Anhinga, Cormorant, you name it.  The utterly clueless crew I took out at 1300 was looking everywhere but where the critters were.  With two manatee practically under the chines I got kinda short with some oblivious passengers.  "Your other left"  I almost snarled at them.  Since they don't understand English I tried nautical speech, "Manatee off de pawt quatah!  Manatee off de pawt bow!"  Blank looks.

Do any of y'all know left from right?  How about port and starboard?  The memsahib has no concept of North, South, East, or West.  It's a form of Dyslexia.  She cannot read a map.  I'm starting to wonder if a significant proportion of the American people cannot tell directions.
