The GMC is back in town with the for sale signs in the windows and the Titan is back home. I also got the mowing done.
Now I desperately need a shower.

I drove back home 911.7 miles from Idaho. I will be glad to be in my own bed tonight.

I left their place at 1:00 AM and got home at 3:50 PM. I stop twice for diesel and got home with about a half of a tank. I also ate a burrito in Las Vegas after I filled the truck. I got 25mpg this trip. It was 26mpg but then I had almost an hour of stop and go traffic so, it dropped to 25mpg.

What’s the truck make and model?

2003 Dodge Ram 3500 with a 5.9 Cummins Diesel. I just past 100,000 miles on it.

That’s impressive mpg for a big, heavy truck. I used to get 25 mpg highway with a 1992 Toyota mini truck (the little, plainjane “one ton” with a gas V6), but that weighed only about 3,000 lbs. City mpg only 17 to 18 but I almost never drove it in the city.

I wish small trucks and real midsize ones were still being made.

He didn't seem to be the type. He was an older retired guy. One of those real slow moving skinny kinda old dudes. But you just never know. I think he just wanted me to commit to holding the truck for him to come up with the money. I've seen this before... you miss opportunities to sell something while you have the item on hold and when next Friday comes the guy backs out. Nah, I ain't going down that road. First cash buys the truck.
If I didn't need the money for a reason I would fix all the little stuff wrong with it and drive it of sell it for more. We just have a situation where we need a quick sale.

I had a good day on the river.  Drove four boat tours.  As I was leaving around 16:30 I saw a guy in the water in the swimming area with a big dog.  That's a Bozo nono where there are alligators.  I went to speak with him but it was quickly apparent that he was intoxicated and belligerent.  He gave me a ration of grief and promised to sue me and have my job for harassing him.  Claimed his unneutered male Red Nosed Pit Bull was a service dog.   Sure it was.

I backed way off and called for LEO.  Amazingly (for a Saturday)  I got an FWC officer in about ten minutes.  Even better it was my buddy Charlie!  Charlie is old school.  This wasn't going to turn out well for the drunk.  I faded into the background and let Charlie work his magic.  I watched him talk to the drunk for about ten minutes.  Then he reached out his hand as if to shake the drunk's hand, hooked a foot behind his ankle,  spun the guy 180 and dropped him to the ground face down with his hands behind his back, cuffed him, and read him his rights in less time than it takes to read this sentence.

It's very satisfying watching professional LE take out the trash!

Guy got charged with trespassing, menacing, public intoxication, and most satisfying for me, failure to comply with the lawful request of an officer.

. The dog was remarkably cool throughout.  He’s just a puppy. Even when Charlie took his owner down he didn’t get excited. Charlie had backup by that point and Bobby Holheinz grabbed the dog’s leash.  The pup is in good hands with my friend Ivanhoe at the county animal shelter right now.  She will call us if the owner doesn’t come for the dog and I’ll go pick him up. I don’t need an eighty pound pit bull puppy right now but this is a pretty good dog.  I’m sure I can find a home for him and I would hate to be responsible for him being put down.

Yeah, but it’s worse if the dog bites someone innocent. Glad THAT dog was calm and manageable.

One of the guys around here was trying to put a neighbor’s dog back in its pen. The dog kept getting out. So he knew this dog, but it suddenly bit him. He carries because there are soooo many vicious dogs around and he can shoot well enough.

The bad news was that because the now-dead dog had not been rabies vaxxed, the guy had to undergo the rabies shot regime, just in case.

The owner’s excuse? “It’s my boyfriend’s dog and he left it with me when he took off.” We hear that excuse an awful lot. Fortunately, she moved out.

Dan a friend has a 2003 Dodge ram 2500 with the 10L diesel that he tows tractors and mowers all the time with and has never had anything go wrong with it yet. I'd be happy if he sold it to me but he has no reason to want another truck and I don't blame him.

Sam glad to hear it and that the dog didn't bite! Is why I carry too because many neighbors don't care what their rowdy dogs do then they come growling at me on my property. They go running back once I bring them the thunder!

Sean and I got up on the roof today.  We blew off tree debris, cleaned gutters, scraped moss, got stung by yellow jackets (I did) and killed a couple wasps nests.  I also trimmed up some of the maple that was hanging close to the roof.  It looks much better and I feel better about it too.

A quiet day for me, made pear sauce out of the pears that the wind blew down. Mowed some grass that the rider can't get. Checked on the grapes on the property, I will have to pick some in the morning. Spend some time polishing stones in the shop tonight since all the hoorah is over.
