Worked OT again today.  Home now for a weekend

Work has been horrid this last week as you can probably tell from my lack of attendance here. 
Yesterday (Saturday) I mowed, hoping to get caught up.... did my laundry , emptied the dishwasher, played "ball" with the Dawg
 Was absolutely exhausted when done.... So I made myself a Highball or 3.
Then apparently proceeded to clean my PB's...   

Woke up this morning to find guns, a can of CLP, cleaning rod, and an oil soaked cloth in the family room. 

Today I am going to Daughter #4 's and set up a Big Screen TV.. then grill 80 burgers and 120 hotdogs for H. Momma at the golf course.

I am curious to see how your retirement will go if you have all this going on now. I am worn out just reading it.

Working in healthcare, I don't have many days off,  I worked every day during the covid-19 period while most folks were staying home.  To me retirement is like the light at the end of the tunnel but I fear it just might be another train coming.....

Sometimes I feel like I've got it pretty easy but other times life seems less meaningful and more boring now that I'm retired.

I plan to retire (in the PI) before 60 or when our properties in the Philippines have all been sold.

Lots of lots like these ones for sale at an affordable price that’s why I plan to sell my no-mortgage house over there as well.

I tried retirement.  Didn't like it.  My first career was in Hollywood.  In 97 my ship came in and it was Titanic.  I retired and moved to the Appalachians.  Got bored.  Started volunteering at a local park.  They offered me a job.  Been having a ball ever since.

When the memsahib and I go shopping my weakness is art supplies.  I bought a selection of Faber-Castell watercolor pencils yesterday to see if I like the colors.  Sat up late last night drawing.  This is a problem when I get inspired.  I will sit up all night drawing and get my sleep schedule completely reversed.   

I always have several art projects going.  Right now I'm wasting time penciling when I should be painting.

I got the privacy fence slats all hung on the end of the lean to that faces the front of the property. Then it got too hot out to do much more. These are not life or death projects and I have no reason to make doing them miserable. Gonna sit in the AC until I cool off then take a shower and watch NFL and NASCAR later.

You are not alone, I have the same problem when working on wood or art projects. I do better in the middle of the night than during the day. It just fouls up the sleep part. I limit myself to the first part of the night and try to sleep the second half of it. It was worse when I was doing the show circuit, trying to finish up stuff to sell that weekend and be up all night doing it, what was really bad was having to get up and go to work the next morning on top of that. Eventually, I had devote all my time to my career, now that I am retired I can go back to it and not have to worry about what time it is, I just go to it until I get tired and take break from it.

Guy that works for me married a Filipino woman. He is slowly building a house there at the P.I.
Takes 2 weeks vacation every year to go work on it and visit his in-laws.
 He says it's amazing!

I took the dog to a local park. She's gotten obsessed with hunting voles every since she finally caught one. Today she caught a scent and went psycho snowplowing her nose through the grass until she found the spot to dig. She started digging like a manic, even pulling out clumps of grass and roots with her mouth. Her tail was wagging like crazy the whole time, and finally she dug one up. She had so much fun playing with that thing and swatting it around with her paw. Never seen her so happy and proud.
Not bad for an 8 year old pooch with three legs. I'll have to try to get a video of it some time.

Just got finished dragging a 1000 gallons of water up to the house from town and pumping it in the storage tanks. After lunch going to go out and cut down another dead tree or 2. Then I might walk down to the firing range and shoot the 5 rounds I've got loaded in my C&B BP pistol. I need to see if the caps I made are going to work.

Jerry, she looks great for her age. Mine is obsessed with rats and sometimes upend things to get them. I have walk out the door and the yard looks like a tornado hit it with him after the rats. It's worth the aggravation, he does get them in the end and leaves them at the front door. He has also gotten good at letting me know where one is so I can flush it out with the hose.

Got another coon but not with the AR as this time I used the .38 snubby as it was in my trap unlike the one before that was in a tree. 2 down now in a week's time and 2 to go but they've noticed a severe decline in their group already which may convince them to leave. Time will tell.

My boy tuffy bear was running around with a rat in his mouth this morning. He's already killed 2 jackrabbits this year.
