I have no idea.  We have been here since 2005.  It was built in 1930.  It's the continual project.  With 8 kids I've already had to redo many of the things we did when we first moved in.  We are on our second or third refresh in some rooms of the house.  It all takes time and money, both of which I am limited on.  I'm thinking I'll do a complete gut and redo when all the kids are grown up and out so we can enjoy it being nice when we retire?  Maybe I'll just end up selling and relocating.  It all depends on where the kids end up around the world as to where we will end up.

Put plant food A&B in the hydroponic, drained the old liquid for outdoor watering, graduated the Onion to a pot and took 8 pots outside for the first time.  Went to Lowe's and bought 6 more wire stakes as some of the graduated to pots plants are over a foot tall :-)

We've been round all the second hand stores in the county as well as the odd garden supply and several Dollar Generals today.  My penance for forgetting Mother's Day yesterday.

Building yet more planter boxes for the garden this evening when it cools off a bit.

Well, I was going to put on some camo shorts, a sleeveless shirt and my go to h3ll hat and brave the heat to mow.... until I saw the flat tire on the front of the 'husky'.
This mower sat in the barn for a few years on flat tires... now just flat.. someone had run them off the rims and busted the beads all up on them. Baker Jr. at the scrap yard down the road gave me a couple tires and wheels but they aren't the right ones and I had to put them on with the valve stems on the inside. Pain in the butt to get to.

So, new plan..
It's daylight at 5:30 am here now and usually around 65*. Tomorrow morning I'm gonna go pull the tires off the correct rims, clean them up and swap tires onto them.

Tractor fixed, ditch the back hoe and hook up the bush hog. Get some cutting done before it rains.

Got up and had coffee and waited for daylight. At around 5:45 I hit the ground running. I pulled the offending tire off the Husky lawn tractor and took it in the shop. I cleaned the bead up good and aired it up. I checked it for leaks with water...  good to go, for now.
Then I went to the barn and grabbed to original wheels to the shop and took the tires off of them and cleaned the rims up.. didn't take much, they look new inside. I'll get those tires swapped over later this week. I just wanted to get the mowing done before it got too hot.

Thanks, my son is starting to think about an empty nest with two of three having major life events and knowing next month his second one will get married and move out too. He was in the grads bedroom and lay down on the bed was looking around and told me he was thinking about where his desk, gun safe (while wondering if he could even get it through the door and in the room) and guitars would look best. I do know he was emotional thinking about his little girls who are now both driving. That was hard for me too, but the space and quiet can be nice too. He told me two more years and he'll have room for his mom and me to move in.  LOL, I think he may have appreciated me mowing twice while he was at work.   

 I may get a place nearby him, not ready to live with him and his wife for a while. We have talked about a place with two houses as long as it has a couple of big shops it could work quite well.

I'll take a boat out in a force 4 gale but the one thing that will stop me is lightening.  We don't run boats in an electrical storm.  I had the old Bald Eagle for my third tour yesterday when a thunderstorm brewed up on top of us.  We were a mile and a half down river of the dock so I pointed her bow upstream and pushed the throttle through the gate.  She's just been repowered and I hadn't run her at full throttle before.
Well sir that old lady can flat git!  The GPS indicated that we were doing 14 knots against a 3 knot current fully loaded!  She's got better than twice the horse power she used to have.

Even with the rain and the lightening the passengers had a ball.  It ain't often we get to plane one of these scows out on a tour!

I'm envious, Kris.  Our most entertaining equipment is a Billy Goat brush mower and Sonja claims it as hers.  My father-in-law has a 60s vintage sickle-bar mower but it is fairly terrifying to operate just due to vibration.  Engine is well tuned now, but I'm betting it triggers earthquake sensors all across the Eastern Seaboard.  It does make short work of tall grass but the Bill Goat handles the woods and especially brambles better.


My wife and I have pondered what to do once we can't keep up the property.  I think our last decision was to skip getting older since it's a real drag.

Peter, the tractor has been my savior in maintaining my property. The backhoe with thumb is the real star of this show. Beats hacking and whacking, digging, and prying stuff up. I can even reach up and break stuff off if needed with it. The unit can be taken off with minimal effort and the 3 point hitch just takes minutes to hook up. The front end loader can be taken of as well. I can add more accessories to it but I didn't see a need with them, they would have been just sitting there. There are plenty of after market goodies that you can put on these tractors. I have installed an AR500 custom skid plate on it to protect the hydraulic fan since it is plastic, the wiring, and hydraulic lines. Another add on is a clamp on root rake to protect the bucket from bending. I also have a cutter blade for the bucket that protects the bucket when I don't need the root rake. There are a few more things I would like to get for it but it can wait.

  First I got the Evaporative Cooler going for the first time this year. It will probably hit 90°F today and be upper 80's the next few days. 

  Then, I mowed some (two acres^?) , but decided to wait for the cool of the morning tomorrow to do more. It amazed me how everything grew while we were gone. I knew it would grow but the growth was about twice as much as I expected! I had some 2-3" tall weeds  3 weeks after I scalped the place. 

  It is very dry and dusty now and hard to deal with the dust cloud from the mower. I hope there is a good breeze next time so I can just mow up wind from the dust cloud.
