Wore out from finally being able to bounce around the rough yard mowing it. That sun kissed me good. Was planning on mowing the back yard tomorrow as it's near knee high from all the rain but.....it's raining again. Could be worse and have no grass at all so counting my blessings.

First day back at work after three days of stomach bug.  I took it easy and ran the string trimmer in fits and starts.  Every time I felt too hot I would jump in my Gator and take a spin to some other part of the park.  Two minutes in the slip stream and I cool enough to go back to work.  Two minutes in the pick up wouldn’t even get the AC cool.

Yesterday was my first spinal injection. Other than that, I pretty much did nothing all day. Today I feel great, I’m planning on airgun related things for a change.

Be very careful. The problem with those injections is you don't have the reminder that part of your body is damaged.

I got home early yesterday afternoon and beat my wife home, as she got off the bus I noticed a HUGE hornets nest nest hanging down about head height next to a public sidewalk.
I freaked as I know how painful a Hornet/Yellow Jacket sting can be... and they will chase you as a threat. I sprayed a can of Raid at them last night and coated the nest and was ready to run like *(&^.
I sent a quite few rounds through the nest with my Daisy Red Ryder from 25 feet... Satisfying me.

Today I drove to Wally World to get some groceries and got a couple more cans of Raid (longer distance too ! ).
I thoroughly plastered the nest again since I still saw some activity. Took a chance and cut the nest out of the Maple tree with an extended tree trimmer, prepared to run like *(&^.
Got in the car and ran over the nest several times on the ground. I am not taking any chances and got out and stomped on several pieces of comb and nest crushing the larva and eggs.
I have two more cans of hornet spray just in case.

Have you tried finishing it off with fire? I'd torch that thing to ash.

Gentleman I bought a riding mower from came by and helped me sort out some things on my 94 F150.

Heh, turns out he's an instinctive archer and slingshot fan... Owns a Silver Strek etc.  We talked autos and non-autos alike.

What a difference in how 2 people deal with wasp nests. We get a couple every year in our pines and I just put a garbage bag around it and cut the branch end off and tie it off.

Sister in law is a crafter and after she shakes the wasps out of the nest, she uses them for art.

Never been stung, just wear a net and leather gloves, approach slowly with a smoking bundle of sage and wave it under the nest then bag the nest.

I find them to be very passive.

Yeah, the yellow beetle part is the part that threw me off… I had to read it twice, if not thrice.

Got a little more than half the trimming done and jumped on the mower. Got about half the mowing done and I saw lightning and then rain drops. Got the mower in the garage just in time. I think I’ll take a nap and hopefully after this thunderstorm I’ll get back out and finish the trimming and then the rest of the mowing.

They messed up over at the lodge and I benefited.  The boat tour schedule changes from 8-12 boats per day to 6-8 boats after Labor Day.  The lodge started the fall schedule today so we only had six boats to run.  I piloted the first three tours and went home at noon.  My relief was happy to come in an hour later and take the afternoon boats.

Best part is the memsahib is home today after a month in San Antonio.  She got home just after I did! 

There was much rejoicing!
