Spent a lot of time working on equipment lately.  Let's see... Element needs struts and I think balljoints and a trailing arm.  Haven't lifted it yet so it's on disabled reserve list.

The new-to-us Tahoe hybrid got new door speakers, new power seat switch.  Easy jobs thanks to my plastic "spudge" tools for pulling trim.  We headed up to the property Friday morning and spent the night so we could get a jump on cutting the fields. 

The 52" Hydro walk-behind Snapper Pro had the PTO switch fail after 1 of 6 acres was mowed.  Sonja used the Husqvarna to finish the upper field, so the rest we left. 

Replaced the bad gas in the TroyBilt walk-behind line trimmer- runs like a champ again and performed suitable vegetation destruction.

The Billy Goat brush mower- also a casualty of bad gas- was left in the woods over the week and some freakin' rodents chewed a hole in the tank and gas cap.  No replacements available anywhere due to supply chain woes, luckily eBay to the rescue.

My Shindaiwa line trimmer did it's usual magic.  20+ years old... I honestly can't remember when I bought it for my father, and now it's seeing the equivalent of commercial use and still runs like a champ.  But I have a failing fuel line so time for a full service.

Picked up a non-working 16" Homelite chainsaw for free; stripped, cleaned, and now I need to get some 50:1 mix.  It runs on starter fluid so my guess is more bad gas.

Sunday we went out and bought a new-to-us riding mower so we can retire the 42" cut TroyBilt Sonja's ex did everything he could to destroy... I got it running perfectly but that arseclown welded the spindle flanges on, bent the bejesus out of the deck linkages, tore off the anti-scalp wheels... I was hoping to find a good used deck but this new-to-us mower fell into our lap- and it's a 2-cylinder.  Does wheelies in the higher gears.  The seller of said mower said he'd check out my 94 F-150; ASE Master and low labor rates, so my summertime engine job is getting outsourced which means I have a lot more free time- and don't need to rent an engine hoist.

My 86 F-150 is doing regular trash and dump runs... I've spent a lot of time over the last couple months turning a wrench and it will be nice to NOT have to do the rebuild on the '94 F-250.

Another 50 taters in the ground-that takes us up to somewhere around 90 foot of row... Probably done with taters; getting late to be getting them in the ground; and we've gotten behind on the chitting-still should end up harvesting enough to cover 6 months of our potato usage if they produce decently-even more if they do excellently... 
Also ditched & dammed about 8 more foot of the runoff stream that's been working down the hillside; and into the backyard.

Stacking brush so I can just grab it with the thumb on the backhoe once things dry up. I do not like having large fires but it looks like I will have one going for most of the summer to get all this clean.

Jet stream has shifted and poles are on the run. What does this mean for me. WINDY as all get-out. Non-stop wind with very high gusts. I have been noticing it over the last year getting worse. I think mother nature is changing. Flash flood rains too.

All was good to go then just before we had the guys deliver it in the spring, Ex-Gov.Cuomo pulled all the funding. I should say I got lucky as I didnt get stuck with the bill. I cannot say the same for the person who worked for the state and issued me the grant. He already has his standing and got stuck with a 14,000 dollar bill. I have been left wanting something other than my homemade carport greenhouse ever since. A greenhouse is a must when you are this far from the center line. I hope your project goes well.

I'm building a 10x16 "post and beam" greenhouse connected to my chicken aviary/run so they can use it in the off season. With Avian Flu popping up everywhere my chickens aren't coming back out until I know it is safe. This will give they a lot more square footage until I can build on more permanent chicken run space, but that will be for breeding.

Good physical health and diet will do a lot more for a person than chemicals will ever do.

Ruling out the unavoidable such as genetic issues, most health issues are self inflicted and chemicals are used to "plug the holes in the sinking ship".

Change your diet, attitude, exercise regularly and meditate (shooting targets for example) often and you will see changes.

But... you could also die tomorrow. God only knows.

Thursday and Friday I'll be volunteering a helping hand with grade school age kids do some fishing. It part of an annual outdoor education program involving many hundreds of kids from all over my part of the state. Everything from archery, outdoor cooking, clean water/aquifer education, birdwatching, etc. etc. Lots of fun, hectic, fast paced, and most of all very fulfilling for us volunteers. A kids smilin' face catchin' hungry bluegills is priceless.

Since I live in a resort area. Most of the houses are weekenders and second homes. A buddy who was coming to his camp gave me a call. He started to tell me a story. He was towing a trailer up to the lake and stopped for lunch with the wife. Busted his shifter on the truck and was lucky enough it was stuck in drive. About a mile before he got to his camp the right rear brake hung up. He pulled into the drive and made a big loop facing down the driveway attempting to put the truck in reverse when he realized he was screwed. They decided to just get out side at the table and each lunch. Five minutes later his wife yelled the truck is rolling. Se it was in neutral and the only thing holding it was the stuck brake. Down the drive and off into a BIG ditch in the woods. This brings his story to my call. So he needed some help. After towing the trailer and truck out spent the afternoon running for parts and fixing a shifter linkage. Turned out ok and they seam happy again. I guess this makes me happy. So ya that was my day. My wife tells me all the time if I got paid for all the things I help people with I would be well off. I tell her it will all come out at the end. Guess I will work on the range tomorrow.

Busted some more sod for the garden, prepped the raised beds, tilled some more dirt, planted some corn seed, and should be ready to put more stuff in the ground this weekend.
