Congrats Bill, the year will go by fast.
Broke down the spare for my Tahoe today-wasn't holding air at all-at best I was able to get 13 pounds in it before it was leaking out as fast as my little inflator could pump it in... Best I can figure is water kept freezing in the bead; as there were even pebbles crammed down deep in the sealing area of the bead (It hangs flat under the rear of the truck)Got it broke down; cleaned it up-had to change the valve stem-there was even junk trapped between it and the rim!Got lucky and didn't have to break out the ratchet straps to get it to seat enough to start inflating-it took right off and 10 pounds popped the bead over into place... Had to replace a lawn tractor tire earlier this spring-that was ten times harder than this big truck tire! Also did the usual seasonal checks-front ball joints; lug nuts; brake lines (getting bad in the rear-though not dangerous yet), exhaust, etc. Also did some minor garden work; other misc. things.Jesse

I used to go through 2 back tires a year on 2 of three motorcycles and front tires for every other back tire. I wasn't changing them before they were wore out either, occasionally I would even go too far like this one. For about 7 years I would get flats on the lawn tractor every time I mowed. Now flats on the lawn tractor only happen once or twice a year, and the motorcycle tires are lasting longer as I ride less and less aggressively.
