Day 3 of tree removal, working on the less tricky ones due to the wind and no I am not chicken, it's not as much as me turning over, it's how and where the stuff falls, I don't want it in the platform with me. It's cold and wet from last night's rain, the wind chill will be 20 degrees less than ambient temperature so sky time will be managed a little more than usual to prevent hypothermia.

Got my new Sig Saur M400 Tread AR15 with red dot sight set on bulls eye today complete with 30rd mag full of 223 wild boar ammo. I really dig it but the hogs sure won't.

Update from the last few weeks, work, cut firewood, bow hunt deer/turkey. Lots of sightings no perfect shots presented as of yet.

Got off work at 15:30 came home and got the dog for here 16:00 vet appointment for her annual shots.
Arrived home at 17:00 to drop her of and head to the Lodge to start cooking at 17:15.
40 Broaster chicken meals with mashed taters / gravy / green beans and a roll.
 Dishes done 21:00. 
Came home and logged onto GTA

Going into work this morning to support a production Saturday and begin a project relocating a couple hundred crates of after service parts. Sort, tag, move and restack. Maybe tomorrow Betty Lou and I can have an adventure on the trails. Probably down to Geneva State Forest for some flat trail riding in the woods.

Day 4 of tree removal, yep I am still alive. Wind had no mercy on me yesterday making it tough top the taller stuff. So I opted for the lower standing snags and cleaned out the ground to get the machine to the back forty to take down the one threatening my shop. Weather is to improve through the weekend and the winds go calm. Just another exciting day on the frontier. ;

Early morning archery session with the horsebow.  Almost did a robin hood- I hate those (too "dang" expensive!).  Wind is a little gusty, so maybe if it dies down I can do some leaf removal/mulching. 


Bill- I've had plenty of real pick-ups from F-100s with 300 inline 6s on to a C2500 502-powered tow-monster, as well as featherweight Mazda B1600s, Couriers, and Taco's.  If I needed to tow, I'd opt for something with a tow package.  But most of the time, I just need an open bed, not a full-length box and high cargo capacity; I worked construction for many years and since everything was delivered on-site, I drove a Honda Accord wagon.  My tools never got stolen (and I regularly kept my compressor and table saw in the back- and my tires were easier to patch and replace (and cost WAYYY less).  My pick-up (various models/makes during that time frame) was driven only when I was moving commercial doors.

wrapped up the day with some errands, dinner, and just finished a short but intense workout.  Isometrics and the Total Gym.  I ain't getting any younger, but I don't think I have quite as many aches and pains as a lot of folks my age.  Time to shower and hit the hay!

Just walked to Walmart and carried home ~50 pounds of groceries including a 25# bag of cat litter.

I have 9 days off starting next Friday to make a decision.

Sat in a small deer blind all afternoon waiting for a buck to walk by.  Never happened. Had a hard time standing up after being so cramped up for so long. Looking forward to dinner and a hot shower.

Got one problem tree down today that required total calm, I was hoping to get the one by the house but the winds picked up. This tree will be my most challenging one to take down without hitting the house or the power lines. I also found 2 more trees in the process of dying and will have to be taken down as well. I will probably loose the rest of my trees in the next few years. All pines are good for is making toilet paper.
