The units all look identical but i seen slight difference ill assume in the firmware flashed to them .

Like i said some can do fps as well as mps.
Some do like up 600mps some do up to 999.

All i do is mps and convert to fps ...lol.  I don't really care about energy or what ever..   im just glad mine does mps correctly without having errors.   

Anyway  mine will do energy. But at start i got to hit a button to change the reading as i want . It defaults at start up to mps.

For $25-30 im good with it for my need . So far it's worked as expected.

In Poland there is a limit of 17J and therefore the display of kinetic energy is important to me

Well they all should do it but ots how round about to display the reading.    Maybe auto or maybe push buttons to set ot to do it..

To be honest i never tried the settings on mine outside of mps.....

Well up until these bargain cronies became available , we took the MPS or FPS, and the pellet weight in grains and entered them into a math equation.

I know these calculators. I also use the CalcAirgun application myself. However, I am curious how to start it in the chronograph?

Well we gave you the directions to down load.

I've seen them available in other languages as well.

Then it's just the slight difference in what firmware yours may have on the one you got.

Like one at start if a P displays you hit a button and it changes from mps to fps .

I think mine after start up you press and hold a button to change from mps to enegry and so on...     Mine does a few things but i just dont use them.   I get mps and convert to fps  ) mps x 3.28 = fps) or somthing like that.  If i have a calculator its all even faster and easy.

Thanks, it is probably a firmware issue though. Unless there are still some secret shortcuts that we don't know ? It's certainly more convenient to have the auto display option. However, if it does not exist, no problem

If I recall correctly, there were some slight differences between the tripod and clamp versions.

My clamp on fell off (I didn’t realize how much a Texan recoils) and the negative battery lead needs to be soldered back on.  I need to figure out everything necessary—never soldered anything.

 I have used my clamp on with my Wing Shot shooting slugs, for about 8 shots, I did make sure it was very snug, was not brave enough to try birdshot, but on a 5 yard test shot it looks like the BBs would more than likely clear the sensors, I do want to test different BB loads sometime, but may use the Caldwell for that with a guard in front.

I added thin rubber tire tube strips in the clamp.  The gamo would work it loose .

I also slid sillycone tubing on to the u bolt once  but the thin rubber strip/ pads seemed tto be better?.   Anyway the gamo with the whisper fusion baffle did not loosen it off near as fast if at all.

Also i now dont clamp it on  i  can see if tighten too much the circuit board d can easly get snapped , cracked   

So be mindful of that when twisting down the wing nuts..

I put a wrap of Self-Fusing Silicone Rubber Electrical Tape around the shrouds, originally to protect the shroud finish from being scratched by the metal mount. It keeps the chrono from moving from the recoil, but let’s me adjust its position without having to loosen the screws. 

When I’m done, the tape comes off easily so I reuse the same pieces of tape the next time.

It looks like he used O-rings. I think the video is in Polish, which I do not understand.

I’d like to know how he keeps the rings in place when not being used.

I’ve tried to figure out how to make the mount work like the FX chrono does. The metal mount scratching the shroud finish still concerns me.

Just too bad you cant just hook a cable to it to a phone just if its only for a read out.

My poor eyes its hard for me to read it's screen when shooting ..   i did add that can dboard cover roof  to make it more pronounced..   i think theted a timer for how long it stays on between shots , but im too lazy to even set that..

I'll jump in, the similar unit I bought from Amazon or Ebay will do power in Joules, but setting the pellet weight is difficult at best. The instructions are horrible, it lacks preceision in entering the weight, and it is just difficult all around.

All that said, I've only had a handful of missed readings and if you have a power limit, I'd calculate your maximum speed for that weight and just work backwards. Write the maximum right on the pellet tins so you know that you aren't supposed to go above this speed. This is how I would approach a power limit issue. Otherwise I write my string on paper and sit down later to calculate the power using one of many different applications. I normally convert to FPS at the same time.

I want to say just get an FX radar since it is easy to enter pellet weight, select MPS or FPS and have energy level right on the screen, but I've had more than 50% missed reading on slugs. I made a mod to mine that might help, but been to cold to care to test it. With a new rifle and some mods to previous rifle, and warmer weather coming back, I should be tuning again soon and know if my mods were worth the $6 I spent to power it differently. Testing after making the mod showed that it could track my hand moving rapidly about 75%, which isn't bad for a soft target moving slowly. Still wishing for a Labradar.

Here is the directions directly from the downloadable instructions. Not sure why the original poster did not download them and then read them but here they are. I agree that the directions are a pain to follow but it can be done as I changed mine to read in joules to check the instruction before I issued the chinese translation.

Kinetic Energy Test Instructions: (projectile weight input needed)
1: Additional speed energy measurement mode: When the power is turned on, while
   the display indicates -SU, “short press” the function button and 0.0 (g)will
   be displayed. Each “short press” increases weight by 1 gram. "Medium press"
   the function button again so the green indicator light blinks twice will
   reduce the number by 0.1 gram.
   For example, to input 1.6 grams: first input 2 grams, then reduce the second
   digit 0.4 grams, completing the input of 1.6 grams.
   After the input is completed, "long press" the function key for 3 seconds to
   Save and exit. The indicator panel LED red light prompts that the save
   completed successfully.
   The result displayed directly after measurement is in meters per second. At
   this point, you can “short press" the function button to switch between
   speed and energy modes. Do not operate or "long press" function key or it
   will directly enter the test state again.

Here is a description of the duration of button pushes

Panel Introduction
The panel consists of the digital display, a function button, and a LED indicator light.
The function button has three types of input:
A: “Short Press": Push and release within a second.
B: “Medium Press”: Push and release within 2 seconds. The indicator light
   flashes green twice.
C: “Long Press”: Push and release after 3 seconds. The indicator light flashes
   green three times.

The LED indicator is divided into 2 colors.
A: If the color of the light is red, the digital display is in joules.
