I've owned a couple very cheap optics and they were not successes.   Others have probably been luckier than me but I'm not too willing to spend any of my remaining time worrying about or fiddling around with optics that might or might not have a wandering zero.    Maybe, just an old guy getting lazier.

I've not had much luck either, but it looks like the price of entry for reliable optics is about $300

I however like to gamble recklessly on cheap optics!  I consider Leapers, CenterPoint, and Winchester to be cheap optics but these are the brands which have held up best on my magnum springers.  They aren't as clear as my Leupold scopes but I'd never mount anything that expensive on a springer.  I have examples of all these brands that have stood up to thousands of shots through my Hatsan magnums and they are still going strong.  If/when they die I'll slap another cheap one on and keep shooting.  I can buy a half dozen of each for the same price as a premium scope and at my age I'll never run out.

A long time ago I did buy an old used Bushnell red dot from the junk pile at a gun store for $15.00.   I liked that one a lot and still use it.   So to be fair, sometimes the cheap stuff really does work out.

 Last winter I had a gun dropped in my lap that I couldn't do anything with. Needed lots of repair, so I sold it to a fellow airgunner.
 It came with a scope I had first thought was junk. I retrieved it from the trash and started cleaning it up.
 The rubber ring around the eye piece has some cracks, like weather cracks in a tire. Neatly covered those with a thin strip of electrical tape.
 It has a slight indentation where a scope ring was tightened too much. After getting years of dust off it is perfectly clear,and the power setting and AO work as they should.

 And I have nothing to mount it on at present.   
  It is a Beeman Blue Ribbon 4-12x40 R68.

I have gotten rid of my Chinese scopes though, except for a red dot Vortex Sparc 2, which is on my of my airguns.

It’s got fantastic warranty, Vortex does, so no worries there, but I do wish it wasn’t manufactured in the PRC. It was my very 1st optic in the US (more than 5 years ago and still looks fresh like a virgin), so I’m kinda sentimental about it 👍

 Decided to stay cool and shoot my 1322 SBR, last time I shot it I had clipping issues with a BR uni-fit LDC, I bored out the cones and accuracy returned, sorta, seems this barrel wants to be a little pellet picky also, switched to H& N Power copper coated pellets and got the holes to touch.
 Also got a text from Nick at work, saying well now I know your XS60c has enough power to drop a rabbit in its tracks. I replied with a big grin and a yup

But I don't like the enlarged objective end, and wish it were straight walled like most other LPVO scopes. This might not work well with the super short receiver on my bottle Bandito. Plus it comes with a mount that I definitely can't use due to the magazine.

With the AR stock I have to use taller optics mounts anyway, but maybe I can find a cantilever pic rail that will clear my magazine, and then I can just get really low scope rings.

The R10 is now going to wear the Hammers 3-9X40 Mil-dot, the CP 4-16X40 TAG went on the new PB, and I got a no name 3-9X40 left over.
Crazy it has no brand markings anywhere... nice glass too,   Just not an AO.

But I don't like the enlarged objective end, and wish it were straight walled like most other LPVO scopes. This might not work well with the super short receiver on my bottle Bandito. Plus it comes with a mount that I definitely can't use due to the magazine.

With the AR stock I have to use taller optics mounts anyway, but maybe I can find a cantilever pic rail that will clear my magazine, and then I can just get really low scope rings.

I seem to recall there were 2 models of that scope, the other one having a  35-yard parallax setting.

Y'all have an advantage over me as I will not buy stuff from Ebay or Amazon.  I do buy stuff on line but only from very well established companies like PA or Walmart.  I use burner debit cards to limit my exposure when I buy stuff on line.  All this limits my knowledge of what is available out there though.  I've never seen or heard of the vast majority of optics that y'all discuss here on the forum.  I am cheap.  Cheaper than all of y'all!  IMO no scope is worth more than $50.  I've paid as much as $109 for a scope but never again.  I do have a couple of really expensive scopes but I inherited them.  I never would have bought them.
Apparently I have much better luck with cheap scopes than most people do.  The five dirt cheap Winchester branded scopes I have purchased have all turned out to be excellent.  They are clear although their light gathering qualities are poor.  They are AO scopes with just a duplex cross hair reticle.  The most expensive one was $65 shipped.

I've had mixed luck with cheap optics, but the only high end stuff I've used was military issue. I just want something I can trust, but won't break the bank. It seems that unless you are spending four figures on a scope it's not going to be made in the first world.

I'll have to pay attention to the minimum parallax settings, that's not something I've been looking at.

If it's a straight tube like them LPVOs, I would not worry about parallax too much.

I have tested mine so many times, a 1-4x20, with very favorable results.

There's actually a somewhat affordable Athlon LPVO with a 10-yard to infinity parallax adjustment, but it's only a 1-4:

I think it's the only LPVO in the market, aside from the uber pricey March, that has a parallax adjustment.
