Quote from: AG72 on July 11, 2019, 01:51:49 PMTook my chinese B1 apart and removed all the oil and grease they used, made a plastic sleeve and put a new lighter trigger spring in her, then when i put the spring and rear metall thing back the gun slipped out of the spring compressor sending the spring and metall part into my thumb and point finger then continue into a flower pot and took a good piece out of it... This happened a good 7 hours ago but i still have pain in my fingers, and this was from a 5 joule gun... It is not toys we are playing with!OUCH! What kind of spring compressor were you using? I ask so others can be extra cautious using one like it if they have one.

Pretty sure I'll get slammed for being a 'Safety Nazi' but! Those type clamps are nothing more then a preventable accident just waiting to happen! It's not a matter of IF. It's just a matter of WHEN!(Congratulations! You are the case in point here! )You handle the spring on a BIC pen wrong and you can get serious eye damage and people trust a clamp like that with Air Gun springs? There are way to many ways to make a spring compressor with used or free parts that are MILES safer to even say it was cheaper or easier.

Even if the other compressor would not work? Taking the short cut you took is never wise.As you found out the hard way. Sad to say.I do demolition for a living so I always consider the worst case to protect my Crew. When working on my Air Guns I do the same. What can go wrong will go wrong. That Sun compressor is nice. I built mine with a screw jack and some used 2 x 4's and didn't spend a dime.
AG I too hope you heal quickly, I always try to be extra careful when I'm tinkering but odds are when you tinker you will eventually get a pinch, gouge, poke, cut, bruise or something that hurts. Today I added a couple of spoon spinners to my trap. The other day I ordered my grandchildren a pink camo Daisy POWERLINE 35. Tomorrow, if no rain, they will shoot it for the first time.
Went out and shot the Benji Titan some more. Trying a little different hold. Slightly more shoulder than before.Shot fairly well. A lot better than a few days ago. Feel good about the practice

There is just no reason to reinvent the wheel if you have a safe design you have made.
I think there are photo's here of Jeff with objects hanging from a hole in his finger... Wise voice of experience he is on what NOT to do.
