Yes you can. Just hold the side lever, squeeze (and hold) the trigger, slowly release the lever and the gun will de-cock.

Glad to see this thread come back to life again   I may even use mine tomorrow out on the state land, haven't shot it since I bought my Challenger.

Wayne, which slugs are you using in your Sentry?

NOE 250-41-FN with the Lyman HP pin.  I wish I had the RG mold because they didn't have them back when I bought the mold.

What does the “RG” mean on the NOE mold?

I’ve got the 4 cavity BT mold in 25 and I’m just now getting them dialed in on my Raptor.  I told a friend of the Sentry sale at FDAR and she picked one up. Cast up a couple hundred of those boat tails both as cast and sized to .249 for her to try as well as some of the more conventional “bullet” shaped slugs and some of the 26 grain pellets.  Since my Sentry is a .22, I couldn’t test any of those for accuracy.  Would love to find that boat tail mold in 22, but they seem to be scarce as hens teeth.

The RG molds come with pins for flat point, cup point and flat point.  In other words if for example you get a 2 cavity mold it will come with six pins total.

Looks like the Left Coaster proved me wrong. Just remember if there's a projectile chambered so you don't double up and damage the baffles of your moderator.

How do you remove the barrel off the Sentry 705-9T?

Mike asked me if I could swap them out and I have removed all grubs and bolts but the barrel/shroud are still solidly joined to the breech.

What am I missing?

Thank you but the barrel was never removed from the breech, the shroud is still on as well.

I need to strip it down to the barrel itself.

I was wondering the same thing.  I already watched that video and it didn't adrees how to get the shroud off because he doesn't have one, his is modified.  Want to take it off for better access to cleaning the barrel and mine is too loud for my use.

Ive been all over looking for a current one…there all the same as the one back-roads posted…. .best I can tell only difference is barrell shroud and bolt vs. no side lever….smarter folks than me will be along,,,good luck

I did learn that there is a warranty …….thats good news since I expect that side lever rivet to fail….lol..Im digging the gun ,but its seems to be set to hot…

Keep turning the barrel back and forth, it will come out. It's just that single screw holding it in.

Edit to add - the moderator is not attached to the shroud. It is just slid inside it about 1/2".

Taking the LDC of the barrel:  Once you have just the barrel and LDC in hand, drill a hole in a 2x4 a little bigger than the barrel, use that like a slide hammer and the LDC will come off easily.

Thank you, I am very careful and never forceful with guns so when I couldn't get the moderator, shroud or barrel off, I was stymied.

I was able to separate them and I found several defects, many which may have contributed to the accuracy issues but probably not. Here are some pictures of the barrel and breech:

1. A huge dent/burr on the barrel step, this goes into the breech right next to the grub screw. This caused significant galling and destruction of the breech and obviously led to the second picture.

2. Galling, swarf, curls and major damage to the breech. By the looks of things, they had the burr on the barrel and forced the barrel into the breech and when they could not rotate the barrel to line up with the grub screw flat (the barrel was 180 degrees from being set correctly) they just set the grub screw on the round portion of the barrel and caused another burr further locking the barrel into the breech.

3. Chamber burr/dent on the end of the barrel. I had to turn this off the barrel as well as the other burr in order to reassemble the gun. This was tilting the chamber in the breech.

I also checked runout on the barrel and found it to be less than 0.001" which was very nice. The crown was clean and well done. The rifling looks a LOT like the Marlin Micro Groove rifling, this should make loading easy and keep the slugs tight against the grooves.

    Dang David hate to see all that….apologies but now I dont feel so bad about my side lever….mine shoots to good to tear into it….will shoot it till something breaks and then hope Mike still has parts….if not will make a cool paper weight…lol…good luck
