So.....what did you shoot today?

Couldn’t help myself again this morning... shot the XS60C before work... this time I picked up the same pellets, H&N Barracuda Match 10.65 gr. & Crosman dome 10.5 gr. and shot the same dents in the stainless steel door, this time at 30 meters. I love it! Can’t wait to shoot a 10- shot group of each through the chrony at 30 meters this evening. Should be about 75*, perfect! 

This was a three shot target from the other night using the 10.65 gr Barracudas. I also fired a 5 shot group with the 350  using the H&N 5.53mm 14.66 grain FTT's at 23 yards and they cut a hole the size of a nickel. I'm very pleased with the results. I would have posted that target but I accidentally threw it away while cleaning off the dinning room table LOL Thanks for your suggestion on the FTT's I'm glad I tried them😉

Five shots at 23 yards with my Diana 350 to give you an idea of the FTT's performance, I goofed on the one high center shot, there are four shots in the group next to the nickel😉 Thanks again for the heads up on the H&N pellets, if these were Crosmans I would have had two fliers that I couldn't call as my fault. Man this is starting to get fun LOL!!

Thanks John, I wish I had the one I wanted to show you, it was better, there were no goofs LOL! All five of them went into the size of a nickel. I just shot the target above this evening to show you how well these pellets shoot and have proof LOL! Thanks again for the compliments they mean a lot to me, I've been kind of struggling with this rifle, now it looks like things are starting to come together

Only had a few minutes between work and volunteering to cook at the Lodge tonight.... but the weather was PERFECT for shooting!
 Took out my R10 Beeman .20 and checked zero at 30 yards.
BOOM... still spot on!
 So the plan is tomorrow me, the R10, and the Dawg walk the property and knock some squirrels out of the walnut trees.

Received my XS60C from FDAR today. After I got the REX scope leveled & mounted, I emptied the carts and reloaded. Was shooting FTT 8.64 gr. with the open sights, then Barracuda Match 10.65 gr. with the scope. I got it close to zero at 20 meters as it was getting too dark to shoot. I’m looking forward to finding its favorite pellet and confirm a zero between the next 2 afternoons, if there’s enough daylight, and Saturday.

Congratulations,  that rifle is on my wish list.

Thanks Dan! That’s exactly what I was doing when I got your PM, going over what’s left of my wish list. I think you’d love an XS60C from Mike. This one really feels like a carbine... a real squirrel getter with the power tune. I just have to shush it a little.

     ,22 BSA Lightning (first model) with Theoben gas ram installed. A second, identical, Paul Watts tuned 22 Lightning.  No surprise, the Paul Watts rifle was smooth as silk. Although accuracy was about the same (bug hole @25 yds w/ 15.9 JSBs), the Watts masterpiece was easier to shoot and much more pleasant. For me, there is nothing quite like a finely tuned springer.

 So far I only shot another GTA members P-rod. Was nice to meet Urban Sniper in person "Fine Young Man" Shot a full crony string and found the prods sweet spot for him, worked out a Chargun graph for him and sent him home with a tin of 18 gr AA pellets due to all he was able to get of late was Parana's and his gun is not fond of them.  Now off to do non AG related things.

Shot the X Five, Triple Threat Long barrel, and the P 365. Nice warm day for the co2 pistols. Had to cut the shooting session short due to rain. Oh well, another day.

Haven't shot much in the past few days.  Hoping to get out and sling some lead today.  I should shoot every airgun I have today. 10 shots through each?  I don't know, they are ALL fun!

another sunny 75* november day in northern illlinois.  we rarely have a week like this so i've been taking advantage and shooting my 2260 and 2400kt while soaking up some sun.  shooting is sporadic between the wind gusts, but just being outside on such beautiful is nice.

Finally found a pellet the Kral NP-03 likes. Also shot some casted pellets through it as well. They grouped nicely 15yds, at 25 yds, that was a different story. Not giving up on those yet, I still have 2 different weights to try in it.

I took another squirrel with the Crosman 1400 today.  I'd been sitting at my plinking spot in the yard after work for about an hour.  The dogs were lounging under the porch when a squirrel made a break for it and leapt from a live oak to a tall pine in the back corner of my lot.  I knew the distance to the pine was 27 yards cause I keep a feeder on it.  The squirrel bolted to the uppermost branches of the tree.  I estimated about sixty feet up. It perched in full view on a branch while the dogs danced at the foot of the tree.  This is too dang easy I thought.  I braced my elbow on my shooting rest and estimated the range as approximately 100 feet.  I aimed square at the center of the arboreal rodent's head and squeezed off my first shot.  I heard the pellet smack wood and saw a pin hole appear in the pine bark under the squirrel's chin.  The nutter didn't flinch.  So I reloaded.  I put eight pumps in and sighted on the tip of the squirrel's ear.   Whhfff!  Nothing but air!.  Okay, classic three round engagement and I've got him bracketed.  The squirrel still hadn't moved so I reloaded, eight pumps again.  This time I held for the center of his ear and touched the third shot off.  I was rewarded with a solid smack and the squirrel took the express elevator to the ground floor.  DOA.
This was accomplished with cheap 17gr Ruger pointed pellets.  I'm saving my expensive ammo for when small game season opens on public land.  The 1400 is more than enough gun for around the house and the three and four acre permissions that I'm hunting right now.

I had just a few minutes before it was getting too dark to shoot but I was able to get some time in with the Wildcat.  I really enjoy that bullpup.  I shot splatter targets and steel at 75 yards.  Next time I shoot I hope the exercise the R9.

I shot the XS60C “a lot” this weekend, mostly Saturday, starting early. Friday evening I took off the mock suppressor/front sight. So the pellets I thought would be most promising, CPDUM & H&N Barracuda Match, started doing weird things. Like I said I was shooting a lot, so the gun started doing weird things too. I attributed the first to barrel harmonics with the added weight removed and the second to 60 or so degrees outside and shooting too much too fast. The other thing was I added a drop of pellgun oil to every cart. Must’ve went through 6 carts, then decided to lube every other cart change. I was using the chrono, and things were not adding up there either. I decided to slow down and try some other pellets. Ultimately, this XS60C likes, very much so, H&N FTT 4.51mm 8.64 gr. & AA Diablo Field 4.51mm 8.4 gr. The AA 8.4 gr. clocked @ 775 FPS & 11+ FPE. The 5 shot group with the caliper is the AA 8.4 followed by 5 shots of FTT 8.64 on top, shot at 30 meters. Yesterday morning, the XS60C got its f1st squirrel with the AA 8.4 at 20 meters, headshot, rolled over, DRT. In the evening, while Ayrabella was riding her bike, I took it out again, seated - unsupported, and shot CPHP 7.9 gr. from the tin at 20 meters and did well with them also. So, hopefully, I’m sticking with these 3 and CPL from the brown box and I’ll shoot full carts with each pellet choice through the chrono next and tabulate shot count & performance for each. Not going to do all that until Geo’s LDC shows up & is mounted, just in case things change again.
