It's amazing how far off the tree squirrels and chipmunks can see me when I'm heading in there direction, it common for the fox squirrels to see me coming at more than a hundred yards away.
Wow Dan you did a whole bunch of shooting today, very cool

Dunno what happened recently, but I went from rare squirrel visitations to "my shed is made of peanuts" for the dang tree rats. Squirrel swing by to harass the cardinals and chickadees at the feeders, then espy my shed and think "lets chew the soffit".Anyway, yet another .22 RWS Meisterthingy wadcutter out of the 2400KT- brain-stem destruction at 19 yards. I step outside slowly, set on a pair of stacked milkcrates and relax in the morning sun. Wait for condensation to dissipate and the squirrels stop watching me.. Then I load a pellet and wait... and wait... and wait. Ten minutes, fifteen, maybe more until I get a quartering-away shot on the squirrel's head.THUP!The fatal dance ensues as the flight response is unleashed, no brain activity present to suppress it anymore. To no avail; the tree rat is dead instantly. It just takes a few seconds for the body to realize the end is nigh Suburban and semi-rural squirrels that are accustomed to people are careless; much like settlers that moved to a mangrove and don't know the crocs living in the reeds and roots are waiting... Those truly-rural tree-rats living in the state forest won't let me get closer than 40 yards- period! Hence... The Maximus.

The Maximus. The squirrels tree rats I have missed (more than I care to say) have learned to scat when I open a window (where I shoot), but don't run when I open my back door. The ones that just sit there when I open a window are "newbies" and usually don't leave... that is, until the cats find their carcasses! LOL!

When I first bought this house, there were literally hundreds of tree rats roaming my and my neighbors properties. I started pesting just a little over a year go and stopped counting dead tree rats when I reached about 200. Chipmunks were harder to hit with the Crosman Fire/F4, but with the Freedom, I think my total now is about 24... but I have not kept a serious count. I just stalk them when I see them and eventually, they are "lead heads". (chuckle)
I did a little tuning on the Galatian. With the regulated air cylinder I was able to get it around 805 fps for about 36 fpe. I don’t think I can get any more out of it with increasing the output pressure of the regulator which is set at 125 Bar right now. Good enough for thumping rats!
