Then the Carnivore .357

    I will be shooting my new Umarex APG NPX later today. I have to evaluate whether I keep it or return it through Amazon. Got off to a bit of a rocky start, as, when I went to mount the ubiquitous 4x15 super cheapo scope, I tilted the muzzle downward, and the front lens retainer just fell off.  Took a good look and found the threads are destroyed that hold it in place. Trigger is horrible. Accuracy spotty. BB accuracy is just &^^&. Still testing pellets. Looks like the H&N Baracuda Hunter, Crosman Premier Super Match, and Winchester round nose show some promise. I put a better 3x9 red/green illuminated reticle scope on it, and, though that scope is Chinese made, it works well

Yes it is and my flock of birds is ever growing.

Oh wow... must have been the Bird of Paradise, they just postponed inventory until next weekend. This is tax-free shopping weekend and I guess enough birds were flown to sway upper management.

LOL would love to try it but unfortunately it is illegal in Canada to use a crossbow on fish (as of two years ago) now or a slingshot. Can only use bows and spears. But I am of this year a proud owner of a seven foot pole spear where they have projectile bans in place. Pole spear never leaves your hand and not a projectile. LOL

slingshots can be fun, used to shoot them a lot when i was younger.  another fun one that is really quiet and very deadly is the cold steel big bore blow guns.  I have taken mice, squirrels, rabbits, a turkey, and even a goat with one.  Very accurate too.

thats sorta like we gig flounder and black drum....we pole around the shoreline with submerged DC lights for flounder when we have a light north wind in the fall.

A sparrow, a collared dove, and a bunch of lousy groups.  I don't know why I'm grouping so lousy, can't blame the pellets or the guns, since they were just doing well a few days before.  I just can't seem to hold the reticle still, breaking the trigger when moving, not holding the rifle right...  Bleh.  Meanwhile every plinking shot, every pest shot, dead-on.  Seems like I need a new way to practice.

I've got a Umarex NPG APX.  I have mine set up with an open reflex sight. The open reflex sight works out well on that gun and my grandsons love it.  Mine will shoot 177cal Crosman 7.4 pointed pellets very accurately out to 20yds.  Best Wishes & Best Regards  -  Tom

Yup I'm gonna try a shooting-stick.  Except I wonder if it matters if you use the ones that are just one pole or two?

I've got a plan on how to keep it free-moving like the paint-roller trick too.  Gonna put a sandwich baggy of vaseline between the stock and the stick, that way it slides back and forth on the sandwich baggy. Also got some nice silky baskbetball shorts I might use, but I think the baggy full of vaseline will probably work.

Didn't shoot anything but a did a few (or more) shots last night.
It was Betty Lou's and a good friend Arron's birthday yesterday along with another couple's  anniversary. We opened the neighbor's (Killer) private bar which is a wood slab siding build that was slave housing back in the day. It was converted to it's current "play house" state back in the '50s. And when you walk in, you step directly into "Happy Days" with a bad boy twist. There is a shotgun hanging above the bar that was used to permanently settle a disagreement in the bar back in the '60s. We "celebrated " well into the early hours playing card, throwing darts and shooting pool. Good friends drifted in and out all night. Betty Lou is still in horizontal recovery mood. I mowed the yard in a special zig zag pattern this morning and just in case anyone is interested.... mowing has absolutely no healing qualities.

  Bill absolutely no sympathy here spent last evening at a sushi restaurant shared four large bottles of hot sake and the chef who happens to be a good friend of my brother just kept sending over a wild variety of delicious fish dishes (amazing) . After dinner we went back to my brothers and had a nice snifter of brandy.

Today I mounted a new red dot and sighted in the PP700 I keep being impressed with this little shooter
