Wish I shot this well during hunting season.
QuoteWish I shot this well during hunting season. Thursday is LGR day after work. They called me a "regular" and gave me the end stall (#10).Red Wagon of toys and testing.I started with the SPA800r project with the modified wood stock and gargantuan UTG 1x30 optic which sorta works with the Fatboy Wood grips width. The 3moa dot is HUGE and a figure 8 on the lowest setting for me okay more like a snowman. Using the snowman's belly I was able to do surprisingly decent 10M groups with my wrists resting on a bag. The eye relief was indeed unlimited and without parallax. Due to the SNowman dot and magazine conflicts I probably will not use the UTG and most likely won't be able to do a red dot.Next was the AEA 303 Challenger with the 40to1 NOE 63gr BTHP cast slugs. At the wall (24M) my groups were no better than the backyard at 15M so....I will order some NSA 303x61.5grHP as the gun loved the 303x47.2s, but I'm going to put the 70mm hammer spring and shim back in and go with the 3750 to 4000psi fill fire breathing 105+fpe tune. Ninja squirrels beware!Next was the Notos with the NOE217RF20 casts at 99.9 pure. The groups were acceptable for hunting and plinking, but the Apollo 18s grouped better and one ragged hole at 10M. Based on the price of Apollos it might be hard to convince myself to keep casting pellets. Might explore the NOE218x25 Slug for the Notos and SPA800r.Lastly was the scope busting jumper. The LOP is now near perfect and felt like my groups were much better. Apollo 18s at 10M Bag just past the trigger guard.
I dug out a blast from the past... my Crosman Genisis NP. With it's CDT trigger and shroud I had forgotten what a great "springer" this is.Just a solid "thud" and accurate at 30y as anyone could expect from a sub $200 gun.
