I think you hit the nail (or screw) on the proverbial head with that advice.

I'll take the original screw to the hardware store to hopefully find one with the same thread that's just a little bit longer.

If I need to, I'll dremel a screw that is too long down to the right size.

Went out and did some rearranging of targets on my range and painted some of them up. Then I sat and shot a few of my lower powered guns at them. It's overcast and damp today and rains are coming. I don't even need to look at the weather report because I can feel it in my bones.... so bad that I had to stop and sit on my recliner. I think I may be done until this weather passes.

I'd have been very happy with the modified 2260 stock I used for a project looked like this as well.
For me though it's just a matter of liking the vintage Crosman stocks better than anything to bear their name in the past 25 years , and not necessarily about this stock being anything crazy special even though I do quite like it.

I shot the C2100 again today.  It's just so easy to shoot!  It's easy to pump, easy to hold, and maybe not so great a trigger but with attention to the trigger pull it will put five H&N FTT in one ragged hole at 25 yards.  I've had a ball hitting everything I was shooting at!

I finally tried my new-old Blue Streak today, tired of waiting for the tempestuous winds to go away, already!

It’s a keeper! Just feels solid and steady, the trigger is light enough, and it’s not even loud, which I expected. I didn’t bother trying to adjust the peep sight or setting up my “benchrest.” No point when such squirrely wind was/still is swirling around.

It did hole the 7-ounce soda can well despite the conditions. Sat on the driveway and shot from 33’ with left arm supported on bent knee. Can’t wait for a calmer day to shoot paper targets and adjust the sight if necessary.

I can understand why the Streaks were so well liked. And I like the peep sight a lot.

Spent about 3 hours enjoying shooting a Cometa 100 in .177 caliber that really likes the pointed Daisy pellets.  Manny reactive targets responded positive in the process.  A real easy cocking inexpensive rifle.  Charles.

It's overcast and looks like rain is coming. Could be as much as 4" predicted.

Nice warm, sunny day here so I shot and chronoed CO2 pistols; S&W 78G, Crosman MK2 and Sig P226.  I like the heft and feel of the S&W.  The pellet velocity was between 374 and 413 with the power screw at the highest setting.  The trigger is pretty mediocre.   The MK2 is still not shooting right, pellet velocity ran from 223 to 253.  It has a pretty good trigger, finish is unattractive.   The Sig Sauer is fun to blast away semi-auto style and pellet velocities were in the 350-400 fps range.  Sig trigger is OK for what it is, a double action/single action, inexpensive, semi auto replica.  I don't anticipate doing a lot of accuracy testing with the Sig but it'll be OK for fun, back yard, casual plinking when kids drop by.   Any gun is fun but I don't see CO2 pistols rocking my world.

I started this morning with the venerable B-3, then some shots with the C2100, the sawed-off Crosman Fire, and then a long session with the Hatsan Mod 135.  The wind picked up so I switched to the magnum springer and heavy pellets.    It wasn't exactly a "John Wayne" day but I hit most of what I was shooting at.

First gun out this morning was that '68 347 "tootsie roll". I had to oil her and get her jump started because she has hung on the wall for more than a year. But once I got her heart restarted she did not disappoint. But the wind did. It's just too windy to sit down at the bench and enjoy shooting. So I just walked around shooting targets of opportunity.
This gun is so special to me. Besides being in near perfect, unmolested condition, I got it from a neighbor/co worker who is no longer with us. He inherited it from his uncle, who bought it new, when he passed.
I'm not done with these guns but I will hold off until this weather system washes out. I really want to spend a day enjoying these ones.
