I'm seeing oil in the bleeding of the 1st stage pump bleed valve. The moisture has microscopic bubbes in it and it sticks to the side of the oil tank instead of "misting" out as does the 2nd stage pump side bleeder. Makes sense that some oil is getting past whatever rings they use in the low pressure pump head. Hence I use activated charcoal in my Gold hp filter. And you can see a bit of yellow stain on my black pre-filter tampon material on my Yong Heng. No cause for alarm on my part as this to me is to be expected.

Just tested my YH compressor and took notes. I test filled my AT44 180cc cylinder four times and here's how it went:

0-50 bar 20 sec. clt 29,5 c
0-100 bar 37 sec. clt 37,5 c
0-150 bar 59 sec. clt 41,0 c
0-200 bar 79 sec. clt 45,2 c

100-200 bar refill 42 sec. clt 45,0 c

Values above are average values of 4 fills, temps are from compressor gauge, I let the compressor cool to 21,0 c before each fill. I used 5 liters of tap water and during four fills its temperature went from 18,5 c to 27 c. Water temperature was measured with calibrated meter and when compressor temp said 21c, the actual value was 18,5 c. Amount of water collected from 1st stage bleed was 3 small drops.

Sorry... With all the sidebar I didn't get through the whole thread. It's a little hard to tell from the photo but you ARE pumping the water into the lower fitting and allowing it to discharge from the top fitting right? It looks the other way around but in the photo it's hard to be sure.

Yes, I'm pumping water into the bottom fitting. I now have the filter mounted vertically as recommended by another forum member.

Agreed. In your picture it looks like the pump in your tub is toward the rear judging by where the cord enters, but then isn't that the pump visible near the front of the tub with the tube exiting straight up through the top and then plumbed to the top fitting? Or is the picture deceiving?

Picture is deceiving. The little suction cups on the bottom of the pump didn't hold and the pump had moved.

That's why they frost up, Probably would have to defrost every few months, But that would be easy, unplug and open the door. Just a thought?? As I don't have a pump YET but soon I hope. Jaa

Jay,

I first thought of running a copper coil through a refrigerator and searched online if anyone had tried it. the consensus was that the small dorm room size refrigerators do not recover fast enough to the temperature increase. If the flow through the copper coil was slow enough it could possibly work.

If you are going to use a freezer I think the copper coil would get plugged with ice after a while. Most likely faster with increased airflow. Then you'll still have the temperature recovery issue.

The cheapest solution I have found, initial purchase and running cost, would be a membrane drier. If you watch ebay you can find the low flow ones for under $100. Search for "smc idg"

Might get one if they get down around $150 to take on the road. They don't get too hot if your just filling guns or topping off a small guppy. May be a good tool for a Fun Shoot or a weekend camping trip.

Taso, I was talking about using the whole volume of the freezer. Just a poly hose from ball valve fitting at the bottom of freezer to the pump intake, No coil's that would plug or ice up as you said, And an air intake ball valve fitting on top of freezer, Both would be opened when pumping, and closed when done, The only reason I was asking is, I retired from an aerospace metal finishing company, We used A Lot of air in that plant, Due to the sheer volume of air 2 Big Industrial compressors They run all compressed air thru 2 Big Chillers to dry the air and it self purges out the water, Lots of it, We never had a moisture problem as long as the chillers did their job. Right now I see a Big Difference here in Michigan pumping up 13 cu tanks Outdoors because of humidity at any temperature Vs pumping in Air conditioning at 72 degrees, I do my bleed off's with my hand pump after every set of 60 - 70 strokes, Outdoors pumping I get a fine mist and indoors with AC I get None that I can detect? But I'm sure there's is some. I'm not Saying we should all run out and buy a Freezer

It's only half full most of the time now. Cold air is also denser than warm, And the incoming cold air may also help keep the head temps down a bit as well. So when I do get a compressor I'm going to give it a test, As I don't really have anything to lose? I figure it's only 2 holes I can always fill them with some spray foam, If it doesn't work out. Now I need to buy a few more guns or convert some over to HPA. Cheers Jaa
