Ok guys i have noticed the first problem on my compressor....the aluminum block on the high pressure side is very soft as im sure everyone is awarr of...anyway when i removed the hose to teflon them i i spected the threads in block and the first couple threads seem to be cracking and upon threading the hose back in they started to spiral and pull out as i was snugging the hose...i didnt over tighten or cross thread i am trying to get in touch with seller for a new piece if they will even send one...just to spread the word to keep a eye on yours...hopefully they will send me a new one

Wow!  Weight: 47.60 lbs is a little heavy for such a tiny package..

Since these pumps are shipped without oil, does that mean they have never had any oil in them?
Does this mean my new compressor has never been tested at all? 

What's a good (and cheap) oil to use as a Break-in / clean-out oil?

Can't speak for all of these Chinese compressors but the Tuxing I received did have residual oil in it.  I had some small flow out of the drain plug so I removed the motor front cover and cleaned it out prior to initial fill and running.  The only reason I can see for that oil presence is that it was tested prior to shipping.  The Chemlube 751 that I put in mine initially is still completely clear after probably 45 minutes total run time.

As bandg said, my compressor had some residual oil. I pulled the back off the case, wiped out the little bit of oil and looked for and big stuff that might be floating around.

As for break in oil, I just used DeWalt D55001. It only takes about 300ml to fill the case on the Yong Heng. So, the quart of oil I bought gives me the break in run and 2 oil changes...

My break in oil is also clear after about 90 minutes of running.

The seller I bought from said all units are tested before shipping. So mine had oil in it for testing. I filled mine and did some fills then drained and refilled again to flush out what ever residual oil may have been in it.

I did some more reading and did finally decide to go with Chemlube 751.  Expensive as &^^& for a guy like me but takes one less worry out of the equation and with a worry-wart like me, that's priceless..

Went with the gallon size.  Hmmmm, ISO46 hydraulic fluid (Chon store/manufacturer recommended)  FREE from work vs $76 shipped for the proper compressor oil...   I'm crying.

I was just looking at the Chemlube 751 data sheet and it looks like it's used for vacuum pumps too..

That's interesting, because I buy oil for my HVAC vacuum pump and have some on hand..

I have the Robinaire as well but I noticed on the sds:

Petroleum distillates,
hydrotreated heavy paraffinic
 64742-54-7

Taken from Crosman:  So if a product has the warning "Contains Petroleum distillate" that is red flag that is should not be used in our air guns

Chemlube 751 is a diesther.  I have no idea what it's derived from, heck may even be derived from petroleum distillates, I'm no chemist and I'll have to look further but it seems on the surface Chemlube is healthier for our guns and bottles.  I think this may have all been answered already but I'll have to read more.  For me, Chemlube is the way to go.

Let us know what you come up with. I want to do the same thing.
Also thinking a combination shutoff/bleed valve at the outlet side of the filter' That way I can maintain the pressure in the filter & bleed the line to my Prod.
What about a shutoff valve with a male foster fitting on one side and a female on the other.

Thanks Robert and Bizill I've been looking at that Lube-V and it seems a lot like Chemlube 501.
Which is close on the chart to Chemlube 751.. The price for Lube-V seems to be in a lower orbit too.
I'll order some tonight, and see if it gets here before the compressor..

I really dont get it, people put hundreds or thousands on airguns and then going cheap on the oil?
I use the best oil for what is needed, oil quality vs machine life. And then still change more frequently than the manual says.
Oil is the least expensive part of this hobby.

Eric's setup looks all patriotic with the red wagon, white pail and blue compressor.  LOL.  We'll call the gold filter the flagpole being that it stands vertical.

I'd still venture a guess that the recommended oil being VG46 will keep the COMPRESSOR running just fine.  As far as oil blow-by, that might be the kicker.  Hence I finally opted to go expensive.  Even then I think it's just crossing T's and dotting I's.  I still bet that there are thousands of these compressors world-wide feeding small, medium, large and airgun tanks and I haven't come across any issues with using the less expensive oil.  Just don't use straight dino oil.  I could be wrong and err on the side of paranoia but eventually in the end the expensive oil does make better sense.

I'm 71 years old and have at least five age related ailments. So, I've changed the way I buy things.
If it's going to cost more and last over 10 years, I'll try to find a product that's only going to last 10 years.

If I was younger and wasn't retired and living off a very low income, I would have purchased a top of the line compressor,
not the cheapest model on the market. (Cost is the same as my 2014 Hill hand-pump)
I do not plan to pump up my scuba tanks.  My plan is to use this compressor just to top-off my PCPs.

The first time my HVAC vacuum pump fails to pull a 50 micron vacuum, I change the oil before using.
I also change the oil in the 2012 Prius C2 every 10,000 miles. Which might be every 2 or 3 years..

Anybody know how many amps the compressor pulls esp at startup ?  I'm off the grid and plan using a generator.  I have a 2KW inverter generator which is most ideal to use as it is very quiet.  I can go to a much bigger 10kw gen but sure is noisy.

I haven't tested mine for draw but the Yong Heng manual states they want 8 amps available.  Seems low but could be accurate.

Was also checking the hydraulic oil required.  It seems Walmart carries the Hydraulic oil.  Back in the 80's, I worked as a lubrication engineer for Texaco in the Philippines. For industrial compressors,  our default recommendation was Automatic Transmission Fluid even if the compressor manufacturer recommended something else.  If I remember right,  ATF is a more premium oil than hydraulic oil.  It has more dispersesant additives keeping dirt in suspension.

First post, been lurking for a while. I just took delivery of my yongheng compressor and I gotta say, I'm Impressed! I , at least for now only use it to fill guns..not bottles. Like others on here had a hard time deciding on oil, I feel the chemlube 751 is too thick. From all my reading it's ISO 150 is equivalent to a 30-40 weight oil while the recommended ISO 46 is more like a 10 weight. I did try royal purple ISO 100 compressor oil which I think cross referenced to chemlube 501 but ended up going back to a 46 viscosity vacuum pump oil by supercool. Anywho...completely satisfied as of now for price paid. With a plug in the line when not in use I keep it charged to 1500 psi and it holds steady with zero leak down. It was purchased on eBay from "solar jean " for $320. It has since gone down to $315 and now ships out of California.
