First post, been lurking for a while. I just took delivery of my yongheng compressor and I gotta say, I'm Impressed! I , at least for now only use it to fill guns..not bottles. Like others on here had a hard time deciding on oil, I feel the chemlube 751 is too thick. From all my reading it's ISO 150 is equivalent to a 30-40 weight oil while the recommended ISO 46 is more like a 10 weight. I did try royal purple ISO 100 compressor oil which I think cross referenced to chemlube 501 but ended up going back to a 46 viscosity vacuum pump oil by supercool. Anywho...completely satisfied as of now for price paid. With a plug in the line when not in use I keep it charged to 1500 psi and it holds steady with zero leak down. It was purchased on eBay from "solar jean " for $320. It has since gone down to $315 and now ships out of California.

DHL notified me my high side filter will deliver today! I have all the stuff to assemble it, plan on a test run tonight.

Almost forgot, been following the Air Venturi compressor thread. On the subject of heat, I know the compressor is different than our yong hengs and tuxings. but. I found it interesting, the AV has the factory thermal shut off set for 95c. One of the posters ran his for I think it was 30 minutes, compressor head was at 71c when he shut down....

Anybody know how many amps the compressor pulls esp at startup ?  I'm off the grid and plan using a generator.  I have a 2KW inverter generator which is most ideal to use as it is very quiet.  I can go to a much bigger 10kw gen but sure is noisy.

Saw this in the Ebay specs. 
Voltage:110V for US/CA/MEX;220V for EUR
Power: 220V-240V 50HZ or 110V /60HZ
Motor Power: 1.8KW

If the motor really is using 1.8KW, using my local line voltage 1800w / 120vac = 15 amps. 
If they send me the high voltage model, 1800w / 240vac = 7.5 amps..

If I had your gens, I would start off with 10kw and measure the amperage while topping off a PCP..
If it's around 1200w, you could try it on the 2KW inverter generator.. But, if it has an inverter
like you use for solar, those FET transistors could burn up on compressor start-up..
I've seen motor start-ups that dim the lights in the house, and a little in the house next door!

I know that HVAC installers use special breakers that won't drop out on a very short pulse of extra high current.
But those breakers have the Grid behind them, and you don't..   
 
I think, most home sockets for 120vac are limited to 15 amps by a fusebox or a 15A breaker.
The 120vac 20 amp sockets have a little 'T' shaped slot for the (N white wire).
(google 20-Amp 125-Volt  Indoor Duplex Wall Outlet and look at the images).

I think the 10KW gen is most likely the safe way to go..

My 2000 Honda inverter gen set won't run it at all.
Mine was converted to run off of propane.

Guess I need to look for a larger generator.

Ok even with the little issue with my compressor i am thoroughly impressed i have the 110v running chemlube 751 also...mine runs upto 52c than levels out regardless of how long it runs...i had a issue with the hose connection piece on yhe compressor so i contacted the seller who has been awesome for answering questions and making sure the replacement part is exactly what i need...i am getting 5 rebuilds andmore filter elements and the high pressure block and a few others for the price of shipping service is excellent even after purchasing i would highly suggest for the price and customer experience....as far as oil mine had residual as well and i was also informed they are tested before sale....i couldn't be more impressed with this little unit and the support even beimg from china i would buy another in a heartbeat

Thanks Mukilteo for trying the inverter generator.  Might have to put a muffler on my 10KW genset instead.  I think I'm pulling the trigger on this compressor.  Thanks to all.

Well I hooked up the pc radiator I got in. I haven't had time to test it yet and probably won't for a couple days. I'll try and do these tests,

Baseline no radiator
Fan off
Fan on
Ice pack fan off
Ice pack fan on
Damp rag fan on

I think I'll run it 10 mins each test filling my guppy from 3500psi and recording the ending temp of each run.

I'm seriously looking into this compressor for my PCP fills.

Watching the videos for the Yong Heng one of the operators (Wingman 115) instructs that it's important to open the bleed before shutting off the unit because of potential preload damage to the unit.

I am planning to fill my Air Venturi 60 min SCBA tank which I don't think has a check valve.  I was wondering if I opening the bleed without a check valve further damage or worse put me in a dangerous situation.  Is there such a thing as an inline check valve that I can install?  Is there any real damage to just shutting the compressor off, closing the scba valve and then opening the bleed valve?

What do yall think?

Eric, that is how I fill my tank. I close the tank valve then open my bleeder screw.

I fill my SCBA's the same way but a check valve, if such a thing exists for HPA, sounds like a great idea especially when bleeding off moisture from the high side of the compressor.

Well my 69 dollar Chinese compressor did not show up yet and the 6th of July was the latest estimated shipping arrival date in eBay so don't hold any hope for it to show. I have already been refunded the 69 dollars into my PayPal account so all is good there but really wanted the compressor.

I just bought a Mutant so my funds for the compressors is drained but will eventually buy one of the 315-325 dollar compressors off eBay that are shipped from stateside sellers.

Somebody requested the amp draw so here's mine at 120 volts.



I finally filled my 2.17 liter Acecare SCBA from Aliexpress and it took all of 23 1/2 minutes from completely empty to 4,500psi.  I did do a brief bleed every few minutes.  You don't need to bleed it hard core like I imagined you'd have to.  Just barely crack the bleed screw open a bit and watch the water/mist shoot out a bit.

My YH never did get above 52 Celcius with ice in a 5 gallon bucket.  My 1st stage pump got upwards of 160 degrees taken with an infrared tester and also with my Therm-App Hz thermal cam.  The low pressure line as it enters into the second stage seems to be hottest at about 200 degrees, right at the fitting.

My SCBA bottle never got above 110 degrees fahrenheit and my high pressure filter never got above 100.  I did this all in one shot, no breaks or rests.  I have a fill whip on my bottle with a gauge and a bleed screw.  When I got up to 4,500 psi I simply turned off the compressor, closed the valve on my tank and then slowly bleed the line on my fill whip valve and also at the same time opened my compressor bleed screw to allow the pressure to release slowly from the lines and high pressure Golden filter.  Then after I unhooked everything I left the bleed lines open and turned the compressor back on to blow out any moisture in the heads.

Next time I fill won't be from empty so it'll take about ten minutes or less.  I did remove the pc cooling fan that I had on that was fighting the flow of the YH motor housing fan as it's not needed.  There's plenty of air running over the first stage cooling fins. 

My flow indicator is a Godsend.  I suggest everyone incorporate one into their system.  Quick visual indicator was quite helpful as this was my first time really putting the compressor to its paces and I didn't need to have to worry about monitoring the flow by looking into the bucket.

Not sure what else to add except that I ran the compressor with no load for 10 mins, drained out the nasty gunk inside, complete with metallic shavings in it.  Removed the cover and wiped everything down, reinstalled it and refilled with Chemlube 751.  The little tampon filter that came with the YH was a bit moist after the run.  I would NOT want to run this without my Golden high pressure filter.  And regarding the hp filter, the inlet tampon was maybe, just MAYBE  a bit damp.  The output tampon was dry as a bone.  I did not remove my sieve material to check as I'm sure it's barely even moist.  I did end up putting in an inch layer of activated charcoal into the pvc tube inside the hp filter before running this as well.

Anyway, I'm quite please with this unit and wouldn't be afraid to try a bigger tank with it, though you'd have to be there to monitor it, which I don't mind doing at all.








I did record a video of my run but it went too long I guess for the app on my phone so it stopped recording in thermal vision.  Drats.  It was cool to watch the compressor's components start to warm up as well as the fill whip and small filter whilst everything else stayed much cooler.

I did begin to record my setup at first but forgot my ice so at least this video is better than nothing...in the vid the compressor had already been warmed up to operating temperature from my testing before the big fill.

Mike, I ordered everything through Amazon. The total was about $100 for the fans, radiator, and hose connectors. There are cheaper radiators but I went a little more expensive for the full copper vs aluminum.
