yup, you guys got it.

all sheridan streaks from '49 - 78 were technically flat tops - however the ones from '49 - '68 had grooves cut into them (they never had checkering).  From early '68 to early '78 the flat top receivers were smooth - so no grooves.  Then in '78, they switched to the round top receivers which they kept until end of production in '90.  (after that the C9 receivers were still round but there were other changes like length and profile).

So, nothing strange or rare about any of these variations. 

my '51 silver is flat/grooved, my '77 silver is flat/smooth, my '84 blue is round.

Thanks for clearing that up. The Model A Super Grade & Model B Sporter kept throwing me off the track. I keep forgetting those were special addition models in addition to regular production models.

She's a beauty. Technically, loosen side screw that tightens the elevation slide. Then use top screw to adjust height, it's like a fine adjustment screw. After, getting perfect tighten side screw. Dunzo.

Ok, let me take a closer look at these Dans I got. Maybe I just don't pay attention. I'm pretty sure a smooth top would have been noticed if one was in my possession.  Then again maybe I have too many???
   No problem Marty. You where already so close to your mark. No reason to bottom out sight and start from bottom up.

For what it's worth, I've heard the three receiver styles referred to as:

Round Top, Flat Top and Crew Cut.

This scope mount came highly recommended by a savvy member. My main concern with any base mount for the Sheridan is that it does not cause undo strain on the barrel's solder seam. Does this mount ride above the seam & your thoughts on this mount?

Not at all!
I don't own one so I didn't chime in... but they come HIGHLY recommended... and Timmy Mac KNOWS his stuff when it comes to Streaks!

I haven't found a comfortable grip when pumping a pumper with a scope mounted. Other than holding the gun with my right hand on the pistol grip and pumping with my left hand. Feels like I am putting strain on the stock mounting bolt.
